Re: [2013] National Tour Dates

SDKO II will likely be July 6th We are scouting fields in a less corporate neighborhood in an effort to get a better party bar. If not, we will keep the same area and simply add the field north of it to give everyone more space. NYKO V should be August 10th. Probably still at Randall's Island, but w...

Re: [NYKO] Results and Discussion

I only got to see a little of the Panik vs Lights Out game as we were switching fields. Thought Lights Out had Panik's number. Great teams find a way to win!! As for Light's Out, you took one of the best to the limit. Great day for you as well! LIU vs Shockwave (part 2) - Hard to beat a team twice ...

Re: Field policy

If I see it, I'll ask you to pout it out (just so I can tell the cops that is what I did). We might have beer at the concession and set up a designated drinking area, but that is not up to us, it is up to the vendors out there.

I inquired, but they didn't commit either way.

You will save $15 buck dropping off by the bridge if you are staying in Manhattan. The fields are right across the bridge by foot, but almost 2 miles by car.

Re: [NYKO2012] Official Team List (20 Teams)

i will say that if the website promised top 16 teams make it and then that was changed to top 8, that's disappointing. it should be clear and consistent what teams will get when they make the time and monetary investment to travel. The website still says 16 make it. I think it was just copied from ...

Re: [NYKO2012] Official Team List (20 Teams)

Was just thinking out loud about it. My stance is 8 teams given field, time, and ref restraints. With the prospect of rain in the forecast, it simply has to be this way. We thought it was going to be less than 16 teams right until the deadline. Nobody would have had an issue with us sending 8 with 1...

Re: [NYKO2012] Official Team List (20 Teams)

The only other thing we could do is this: 5 pools of 4 play their pool (3 games) Top 16 have crossover games and bottom 4 play each other in an elimination format. This gives the teams in the 5 to 12 range a possible must win game to end the day. I didn't put "4 pool play games + elimination (t...

There is a footbridge down by our fields that get you back into Manhattan with ease. This tournament will go a lot smoother now that we have a central location.

Re: [NYKO2012] Official Team List (20 Teams)

I understand the prospect of not making it out of pool play is less than ideal, but am not sure what people are looking for. 16 out of 20 teams making elimination is a waste of a morning for teams looking to play the best at their best. I get the argument for 12, but that has 4 teams sitting around ...

That also adds two more fields and 4 more refs. We have 16 refs confirmed for the event. Our backup field location is quite a hike from all the others so we want to keep things central. These are all things we thought about given our staff, space, and time restraints. I realize we might end up with ...

A Kickball Tournament weekend has two major goals, determining a winner and throwing a party. Pool play = 9:00 to 2:00 5 rounds since we have pools of 5. 20 teams was kind of no mans land between 8 and 16 teams making elimination. I personally think it is silly for 16 of the 20 teams to make elimination, and 12 teams gives us an extra round that has the top 4 seeds sitting for two hours between games (after lunch). 8 teams makes pool play very import...

Re: Pool Structure

With an even number of teams and even number of pools, they really should do pools of 4 with crossover as: 1v1 2v2 3v3 4v4 It will insure very meaningful games at the end of pool play, and allow all pool of death complaints be addresses on the field rather than the schedule draw. I can't make it dow...

Pool of death! Pool B seems tough indeed! Very excited to play SKG, Paddy's squad and these KC clowns though!! Don vs. Chip! Re: [SDKO2012] Discuss Scores, Pool Play, etc.

In a perfect world, I'd actually have 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 from both pools of 4, but since we had 3 fields for two pools, it had to be assigned. So, we thought the lesser evil was to match the 1v3 and 2v4 from each pool. This could give the #2 team a big advantage in a pool with 3 powerhouse teams...

You drew The Business for crossover. Since we were a field short, we couldn't do it in the proper way of letting your first three games decide who you played in your 4th.

I'm most excieted about the SoCal Riot vs. AOD crossover game.
