Jacksonville might be a little too soon. There's one team that might travel and I'm going to try to get them to Atlanta. It's a little closer and gives me more time to meet them and get them interested. I might be able to squeeze one circuit team out of this city.

hey, one is a start! if you can get them to go to any event, even if it's just one measly mish-mash "availables" team, i can just about guarantee they will have a good time and take it back to tell all their friends and teammates about it. keep in mind, if you can't make JKO with a whole team, we always need refs which is at least a way to get people exposed. easier to convince two or three people to go than to get a whole team. we also have DC and VBKO within reasonable* driving distance from charlotte.
*note: i haven't flown to a tournament since 2006, and i've attended a lot of tournaments since then, so my reference for "reasonable driving distance" may be a bit different from your average player.

Virginia beach might be driveable, but Washington DC is probably something I would want to fly to. But I hate driving and I'm flying to jacksonville from charlotte which is only about a 6 hour drive.

Rained out here as well. Practiced on those same fields, went out to the league bar and the owner of Pinnacle was there (free drinks) which led to Ti^2, not a bad night for a rainout.
Which leads me to my next assumption, rainouts lead to Ti^2.

That's two more athletic guys than my team has. Will you be joining brick, mcnugget, and I in the bunt homerun sandusky shot challenge?

Might as well...there are a couple girls on there I wouldn't mind getting a handy from.
I ended up pitching, playing catcher and 1st base.

I think its all those brightly colored mantanks that lead to TI^2

Half of them look embarassed when they miss a play, half don't really care. The bar is fun afterwards, its just the hour of the game feels like its taking about 4 hours. What they lack in kickball they do make up for in flop cup though. There are six of us that I don't think have lost a game in three weeks. It's quite spectacular. As far as the avatar, if your name is Brent your avatar has to be awesome. I was just following suit.

This was actually a pretty decent team that we played last night too, it was a simple over throw at first where he took second, but the pitcher got a little frisky and tried to throw him out at second. The ball went sailing into the outfield and he came home with ease. Proved to be a crucial run, as we only won the ball game 3-2.

I was screaming "handjob!!!!" from the adjacent field as it was going down.

No outs, bases loaded, and I'm catching. For some reason the guy bunts down third so I grab the ball, tag the runner, step on third, and run like hell to second. Around that time the ref (her first time reffing) decided to call it a foul ball. My feet were in fair territory the whole time but I reached to my left to grab the bouncing ball in the air before it touched foul. According to her judgement the foul line extends into the air so once the ball crossed that plane it was foul. I don't know why it took her till after the play was over to call it foul but I was devastated.

That would have been tough. You probably would have had to try to peg the runner going to second. Besides the bhr, grandslam, and triple play is there anything else we should be striving for in these games?
I'll be playing in a sombrero on Wednesday and I plan on attempting a catch in the hat.
While pitching, I really want to get the "peg foul out". I've seen people try it, I've tried it, but I've never seen it work. When someone has three fouls, just throw it as hard as you can near their feet. I've gotten close, but never pulled it off. Undoubtedly, the ref will mess up the call and I will not be awarded my strikeout...

pretty sure dave regelsky (dregs) did this in waar a few times. it was previously a one-bounce underhand league so people would choke up on the bag and he'd just throw a no-bounce right at their feet. doesn't matter how many times it bounced if you make contact...
