flagpants wrote:An open letter to the DC Royal Board:
This is the only post I’ll be making…you wanted flagpants to chime in and now here it is:
First I’ll address allegations of my “grabbing base-runners”. Blow it out your ass. If the ball comes in my general direction, I’m going to move towards it, regardless of whether or not there was a base-runner approaching. If it so happens that we collide, intersect one another’s paths, then plow me over. Yes I move around the field a lot because I can cover a little more territory with my long, patriotic legs (not to say the rest of the outfield doesn’t perform heroically, they’re troopers, all of them). The reason the refs didn’t call “holding” is because there was no “holding”, but rather a mild collision of bodies as a result of two people with different objectives occupying the same space. As a matter of instinct, if someone runs at me, I’m going to put my arms out to avoid a collision – this is not grabbing, but common sense defensive tactics. you’d be an idiot, probably an injured idiot, not do so. So man up, plow me over or run around me and quit your whining.
Secondly, I’d like to remind everyone that IT’S JUST KICKBALL! YES we play to win, YES we take it seriously, but for the love of god, we’re here to have a good time, and if you can’t have a good time unless you’re whooping up on some nonprofit and office workers, then I think you seriously need to sit down and reexamine your general approach to life. Don’t kid yourselves, being a badass at kickball is like being really good at burping on command (which I am in fact really good at); it gets you absolutely nowhere in life, gets you zero amount of attraction from members of the opposite sex, and it does not look good on your resume. BUT IT’S FUN AS HELL, and if you can’t have fun unless you’re winning, then, well, you’re actually kind of a loser.
We’re all in it to have a good time, but with each of our loses, we’ve been gracious and sportsmanly. Yes ATKBT called HTKC on having an illegal player. As I recall, CCSE tried to do just that to us on multiple occasions last game, possibly as a retaliatory measure. But did we bitch or cry foul? No, because we understand that the game is governed by a unique set of rules. Just like 3 strikes is an out, just like 4 balls is a walk, 1 illegal player is a forfeit. Rules are rules, and we were well within our rights to call HTKC out on it. Granted, we wanted to play, I personally don’t feel good about taking victory as a result of a technicality, but, as the great Walter Sobchek once said so eloquently, “this is not ‘Nam…There are rules”.
So to those of you who will undoubtedly continue your faceless, nameless bitching about miniscule, inconsequential crap, enjoy. I won’t be there for it. If I have an issue with something, be it a questionable call, lack of backbone for winning on a technicality, desire to mack it to another’s girlfriend, desire to shove a whistle down said other’s girlfriend’s throat, then you’ll know about it because I’ll say something to you face to face…and I encourage everyone in this league to do so as well…I’ll be the guy wearing the flag pants.
PS: I know you guys will dissect this post word for word, but, while you’re doing that, I’ll be doing more important things…like taking a dump…so peace out suckas.

I wouldn't say that people had "problems" with me or the girl with the whistle, aka Emma, aka the Manager, aka known as my g.f. That was just some friendly discussion yesterday imo. You guys opened up a few "issues" and I thought I'd respond. I didn't think that you get so riled up over it. Btw, our whole team is awesome if you get to know us.

Every guy who is posting here is actually a lot of fun when you get to know them. Yes we get riled up - we are competitive. I am pretty sure Ryan and Jordan would get riled up over a game of Pogs.

I get riled up just for the sake of getting riled up. And I enjoy getting riled up with my gang of kickball brahs, Lloyd and rhart. I have no personal animosity to ATKT players, I just like to entertain/be entertained and that usually involves being a rebel rouser.
I also like this little kickball community going on around here and I want to put M2S on notice that we are coming for them.

I don't even know what that means? Are you showing up on Saturday at Marie Reed to just declare a walk-off? If so, I will do my best to make arrangements for David Bowie to be present to officiate.

I bet not only M2S, but IFA, FWB, and KA would keep your "argument" down to a "polite disagreement."

1) I didn't mind the whistle. I thought it was funny.
2) Not only am I competitive, but I'm also the most modest person in the league. In fact, I would say I'm the best at being modest of anyone I've ever met. Of all time.
3) The paradigm shift is coming. But DC Liberty is still the wrong move. So what if DC Cap is the AFC/NFC West of kickball divisions? We can scrimmage the big dogs and play in a DC wide tourney.
Plus, Vegas got moved back to October, which means we could play in DC Memorial right before Vegas to prep us. Seems like an easy decision.
4) M2S/HTKC is just getting a taste with CCSE of what's to come from Ballers and Shot Callers. You're on our list. We'll check you off soon enough. (How's that for a visual?)
