So after some seriously shady shit the final four match ups are

Meatballs - Riff Raff
Balls Deep - JKI

Riff Raff won their quarter final game on an accuracy kick gone wrong. The Stepdads kicker went first and would've had his hall within a few feet of the base but the REF stopped the ball for some unknown reason so after 10 minutes of arguing the Stepdads had to rekick and were nowhere near the base and Riff Riff easily won.

JKI pulled off a nail biter against Fully Loaded 1-0. I'll be the first to admit that JKI pulled a dick move and I apologize to Casey and everyone else on Fully Loaded as it was my idea. Adding myself to the bottom of the lineup was wrong and we shouldn't have done it. I'm glad that FL took down our 123 so the shadiness didn't change the game. Fully Loaded made one bad play in the first inning which gave JKI our only run.

Balls Deeper pulled of a close on against The Green Team that could have ended in a tie as well but one bad play cost The Green Team two runs.

My understanding of the rule is that anyone can be added to the bottom of your line up as long as you have not gone through the line up. The part that makes it shady in my eyes is that Jon and Casey exchanged line ups before the game. Either way FL shut down our 123 and made the entire move useless. I think it was shady and I feel bad about it. I guess its a little differnt when you do it to your friends.

Actually we've got clarification of this from WAKA. The added player is treated like a late arrival and it can be done regardless if the team has gone through it's line up or not.

our game was pathetic. most of our team is in a slump at the same time right now, just can't get any baserunners. I got stranded at 3rd in 1st inning. Was at 3rd with 1 out in 5th inning and a poor kick by Q/bad baserunning by me = 0 runs.

The better team won no doubt...they didn't get a baserunner to 3rd the whole game. and I think they had 1 guy reach 2nd base. just sucks we had to win it like that

I think if my guess is correct JKI may have had two outs with the top of the order
coming up and Dave inserted himself to be the last out and obviously have the top
of the order up the next inning. Is that correct Dave?

The Green Team definitely had a chance to beat us tonight. Not until the fifth inning
did we pull away on an error. They also loaded the bases in the last inning and had a
chance to win it. Very tough game from the Green Team. Bruce, Bishop and Wick
played nearly flawless tonight.

BD did not look good tonight. We weren't on offensively or defensively. Not to take anything away from the green team b/c they played good D. If we play like we did tonight next week it will be an easy win for JKI. I have not had the opportunity to see riff raff play lately, but as of now, I would have to predict meatballs v. jki finals

Also, I forgot to mention how much I hate the second round of playoffs b/c those games always have the worst refs. I know it has to be done that way, but its always players from the newer teams that dont know the rules and dont really care. And ususally the games are at least decently close. we definitely had our share of bad calls both in our favor and against us....at least it probably evened out in the end.

Agree 100%. The ref's in the 2nd round games are on non-competitive teams that lost in the first round. Granted our game wasn't that close and the only bad calls were balls and strikes from the home plate ref. His strike zone was the plate and nothing else.

I would also like to mention that Riff Raff got away with one as the Stepdads got shafted pretty good on that accuracy kick. It would have been tough for Mr. Weiner to put the ball within 3 ft of 2nd base. I was in disbelief when that ref touch the ball when it had maybe a half a rotation left in it, he immediately knew what he did and put his hands on his head, then promptly ran away from the field before the retry.

We wanted RR in the final 4 anyway.

Im glad we get to play RR in the final 4 but i feel bad for how the lime green team lost. They got so fucked. The ruling should have been have weiner kick it and if it is anywhere in the area then have them both re-kick. Just a shitty way to end the season. Props to the RR players for making so much noise and getting them to make it a re-kick. You all know the ball would have stopped at that spot or at most a foot past it. Dodged a bullet there. Glad we get a re mmatch next week.

So RR and Bd are both saying that they are playing bad. I would like to add that we did not look good last night either.

For the semi's and finals we do Kansas City, but for the round of 16 and quarter finals it is accuracy kick. At least unlike Paper Rock Scissors the players (actually kicking a kickball) and/or ref decide the game in an accuracy kick.

Thanks for the apology Dave - it was kind of messed up especially since it put me in a shitty predicament to figure out if JKI was allowed to do it - and by definition of the unclear rule, it is allowed. Anyway - it didn't change the outcome of the game at all, which was fine by me.

You are all correct - we need to do something to drastically change the way we have the second round reffed. It is ALWAYS the worst reffed game of the playoffs - has been that way in my Go-only-know how many years of playing in Beach. The problem enlies in the fact that the top 4 teams get the benefit of playing back-to-back games at 8pm and 9pm...and, as much as we have tried, no one who plays the 7pm games and loses want to stay until 10pm to ref, since their night and seasons are done. So we're stuck with the teams that the top 4 beat...which is usually the bottom 4 teams of the division. Unless the top 4 want to play at 7pm...get cold...then play at 9pm, we need to come up with a better solution.

The ref in our second game against Urine Trouble (I think) was bad as previously mentioned...

2 funny things happened in that game last night:

1. (Reffing) Jay-Ro bunted a great bunt that went through the gray area and the catcher got it and he was safe.... Then the ref called foul... Immediately our entire team jumps up a shouts "GRAY AREA"... One of the guys on the other team says to the ref- "Don't listen to them just cause they yell louder [turns to us] WHATEVER 9 YEAR VETERANS" We like.. ummm OK!

2. Jarrett pegged our Zak look alike HARD as he was running to first... The other team Urine Trouble pauses for a minute and goes "DOUCHEBAG AWARD" and our entire team stops playing and cheers! They were so confused.

Those two plus Jimmybeans (offensively) making it to third base and diving off the base to catch a fould line drive kicked by MEATBALL Nik made for a funny- if not freezing cold- night.

I did not feel on my game at all... Was awful and not hyped up- but happy to be there, and happy it wasn't big game week.

While losing the way we did sucks, I know that if you don't score runs in regulation, you didn't really give yourself the best chance to win. I think everyone on the fields knew that accuracy kick was going to stop within 3 feet of the base, but rules are rules, and there's always a Bill Buckner lying in wait somewhere. Unfortunately we played all game with the mindset we weren't going to let the refs determine the winner, due to their inability to make seemingly the easiest fair/foul calls due to a lack of either effort to see the calls, or an inability to flip the coin they seemed to be using all game to make calls. We were outplayed offensively, and made a couple decent defensive plays to keep us in the game. We don't really look for hype, just out there to have fun, and winning is nice, but I think pretty much everyone can agree that losing on an accuracy kick is the worst, especially the way we did. I'd like to propose possibly a potato sack or maybe a three-legged race next time as this may atleast allow for less referee interference. Again not bitter about the loss, we had our chance, and we'll keep coming back for more. Good luck to the teams in the final 4.
