What happened to this league? People used to talk trash on the message board. Luckily we have the Recess Rambler or Hoboken Kickball would get no love on this Web site. It's playoffs, let's light some fires and pi$$ people off before Sunday. I'm not making predictions, the Recess Rambler takes care of that. The playoff match-ups have been set:
#4 We've Got the Runs vs #5 Kicking Game
80% of the players on We’ve Got the Runs has at least one championship under their belts. Kicking Game took the lead of the former Evil Empire, they started a Scores Kickball coup, cut their females and changed their team name. This is a good team with little playoff experience. We’ve Got the Runs, the so called preseason “dream team”, has been a major disappointment this year. I will say this, if any team knows that if you have one good day you can win it all its We’ve Got the Runs. Crafty pitching, clutch kicking, and good defense wins championships in HKL.
#3 Pork Slap vs #6 Booze On First
A rematch of tie game two weeks ago where Pork Slap had the game in control but lost the lead in the 6th. Booze on First has never won a playoff game and has always been a red carpet for teams looking to get to the second round. This year they went from being the most liked team to one of the two most hated teams in the league after brining in a malcontent that plays for Dumpster Fire the 3rd week of the season. Pork Slap has a ton of playoff experience but has never won a title. Pork Slap is easily 2 or 3 runs better on paper but if they don’t come to play they will be retreating back to the Dubliner for their french onion soup team lunch before noon.
#2 Balls Deep vs Booze on First/Pork Slap
Balls Deep is the least talked about #2 team since I have started playing in HKL. The knock on them is that people say they have not played anyone. This is a revamped squad with playoff experience. If they get Booze on First, this game could be over after the 2nd inning and Balls Deep will be making their first trip to the finals. If they get Pork Slap, Pork Slap has the defense to shut them down and send them to the bar for flip cup.
#1 3 Piece Chicken vs Kicking Game/We’ve Got the Runs
We’ve Got the Runs thinks they can compete against 3 Piece but their lack of speed at the top of the lineup and kicking depth will be their downfall in a game that shouldn’t be close. If Kicking Game advances, they have some great male and female kickers, but against a good defense and a good offense they won’t be able to stay in the game.
Champion: 3 Piece Chicken
When you have an overall talented team with the best female in the game, the most dominating pitcher, and the most athletic player its hard to lose. I hate to say it, but this team will be mentioned in the same breath as Evil Empire and Booty Call after Sunday. F-Marquis.
