but, i like what christopher nolan's got up his sleeves for these films-- batman begins was the shit and they promised to have better casting this time around. i have faith in it.

I'm totally psyched about it, and I know Heath will come through in the end. But, I'm not gonna lie, the make-up thing kills me. Everything else about his Joker seems perfect though, all the way down to his posture. And if we're gonna start picking on the "realistic" nature of the crazy guy applying make-up evenly... how about the guy in the bat suit with no real "super powers" that can seem to hang with all the mutants and aliens all the time...?

I still love his role in The Departed.

I hope to God above that the world gets to see all the deleted footage of him from that movie someday... The man is absolutely out of his mind. I'm sure there'll be a super special collector's edition sooner than later. Although, powers that be may want that stuff to never see the light of day...

it depends, if this version of joker is some wacked out psychopath, then yeah, a little disshevled (sp) appearance makes sense. Jack Nicholsons joker was a mafia thug who wanted to run the city, so he was more polished. The guy from the 60's just wanted to laugh and play with the riddler all day in some homoerotic LSD enduced trip while trying to catch Robin.

I may never work in film again if I got too specific, but suffice it to say that the stuff we saw come in on dailies and the stuff that's on the DVD's special features do not exactly match up, shock value-wise. He got his own rewrites to make the character more despicable, then they'd film stuff they knew they'd never use in the finished product just to keep him happy and help him get more into the character.
