Superdudes win 3rd Golden Lunchbox title

Postby jszat » June 12th, 2011, 4:36 pm

MUSA is happy to announce the Superdudes have won their 3rd Golden Lunchbox in yesterdays 22nd version of the tourney with an 8-0 beat down of upstarts Bear Balls. Coming up through the tougher side of the 44 team bracket, the Dudes got plenty of tests from other solid teams such as Prestige Worldwide, who themselves toppled 5x Lunchbox winners Vandelay Industries in a 1-0 contest. It was almost the tourney that wasnt as county fields workers seemed to have thrown in the towel and were ready to wash out the tourney. A little help from players in the league and roughly a dozen bags of kitty litter helped get the tough areas of some fields a decent base so crews could finish things up with only a moderate delay. It ended up being a great day of games with many teams setting up shanty towns with grills, bloody mary bars and more.

Again, congrats to the Superdudes on their 3rd win, especially when many started writing them off as the crew has gotten a bit older.

Congrats to the Superdudes!

Also, FYI, since the Golden Lunchbox is the highest title in the MUSA pantheon, that gives them an automatic bid to Circuit Cup in October ... so if the Superdudes would like to make the trip to Vegas to compete, they're eligible!

What is the criteria from a yearly championship? I ask cuz our fall season ends in November and Vandelay Industries (and their various incarnations) won the fall tourney last Nov and wondering if either or both would be game. It would also be interesting to see if they would be up for playing the 10" game but can ask. It seems some of the rules have been changed with the circuit stuff since Superdudes played in one of the tournies. I have been trying to get travelling teams from here but as we are an 8.5 league and some were lukewarm on the rules in the tourney they played, might take some convincing.

The 10" circuit ball plays more like an 8.5". Its harder and flies farther than a 10" WAKA ball but you still have the difference in the throwing.
...it's not I like was getting drunk in Vegas when you were still in elementary school.

Up to you - you just have to let us know by July 21st who you want to send for that October's Cup Championship:

Structure of the Circuit wrote:Teams must present Kickball365 with proof of winning a qualifying League Championship no later than July 21st of the Current National Tour year.

If a League consists of multiple divisions within an organization, only sectional, national, or international-level champions, playing at the League's highest skill division or designated league-wide Championship, will be eligible for the Circuit Cup Championship under this qualification method.

The League is responsible for designating to Kickball365 which skill division and/or league-wide Championship meets these criteria.

Circuit Cup Qualification Examples
If you play in MUSA, then you will be invited to The Circuit Cup Championship if, in addition to registering your team in the Circuit, you win the MUSA Premium Draft skill level championship (highest skill division) or the Golden Lunchbox Tournament (designated league-wide Championship) --not if you win your smaller division within the Premium Draft skill level, and not if you win at the Gold, Standard, or Remedial skill levels.

Also ... you folks played in the 2010 SFKO (which used the WAKA rules and ball) ... we now play with the Circuit rules (10 players in the field, 3 fouls -- much more open game) and ball (a custom-made Baden 10" ... it is very responsive and really flies). I think you folks would like it much more!

I think we need to make it a point (if at all possible) to send an availables team to this tournament next year (I understand there are slots for "at large" bids not in MUSA). I think it'd be interesting to try out a different type of kickball.
