RBNL's Pitcher

Postby Festa » August 19th, 2009, 9:47 am

We're going to have to wait for Fro to put it on YouTube... but that's guys pitch was bouncier than the Skippers.

And of course, Bethesda's Superman doesn't know what a 1 foot high strike zone is. Nor does he know what happens when a person gets tagged with the ball before getting to the base.

He did what he could to stop the bunting and in MD Fire that tye of pitching has always been allowed.

RB&L's pitcher has always been a good guy to me. I talked to him last year about playing for HTKC.

Bethesda's Superman is one of the worst reffs I've seen. John dropped the ball on the guy 2 feet before the base.

Any average ref would have made the correct call.
Good? Bad? I'm the guy with the bat.

So here's the play (for those who weren't there)

Guy from RBNL bunts the ball down the 1st base line. Gregg yells "I got it" and kicks it right at the runner getting him out. On the ricochet, Gregg picks up the ball and launches it toward 3rd where John catches the ball and throws it at the base runner sliding into 3rd. There is no 3rd base ref, and "Superman" calls safe.

Every HTKC person on the field and sideline said "WTF! He was safe!" Da MAULER rushes the field to argue the call with Superman.

Which promoted VP Sarah from Munt This (spectators) to intervene and tell the captains (just Da MAULER) to control their teams.

The ref said he couldn't see the tag. I believe him because the tag occurred behind John (from the ref's pov). However the refs should have conferred because the 1B ref saw the runner slide into the tag, but never volunteered that info to the head ref.

But for the next GMOT, can somebody do a "rule of the week" section and list the strike zone?

Never throw at the runner, unless there is no one on base. Throwing at runner = problems.

Sorry - It was a blur. Although I think Gonzo Gregg is more of a Superman than that head ref.
