Bill wrote a nice game by game summary so I'll try to focus on things he didn't cover.

First off … thanks to everyone for the kind words about our team. Much appreciated

I partied way too hard thursday night in vegas. I came back from the club at the wynn hammered (4:30am) and decided to play NL hold em until 9:30am. I somehow managed to win $500 bucks in my inebriated state. My sleep schedule was a wreck from that point on.. Learn to Pace pDunc.

Riff Raff- I really like this team. Mr Awesome/POW (I can't tell them apart) was a pretty good pitcher. He had a huge smile on his face everytime he pitched. The more strikes he threw the more he was cheesing. They managed to get our top 3 out which usually never bodes well against good teams. I think I've played all the good teams at this point and will say that RR has the BEST catcher/pitcher/charger/1B combo. Flades is a machine. Guy has a rocket arm. Their catcher has a nice spin throw with good velocity. It doesn't hurt that Q is a large target at 1B base. I think Dan and I managed to get to 2nd, 3rd in the second but they caught our pop fly. We had two ridiculous errors in this game that gave up 4 runs. Both teams had 6-7 runners on base each so it was closer than the score indicates. With a deeper bottom of the lineup RR may be a favorite for founders next year.

Sofa King Good I met their team last year at a buffet in Vegas. Really good people. I’d say they’re a very close 2nd to BCB in top California teams. Our ref this game was calling any bunt in the box fair. Both teams got the shaft on it so it didn’t give an advantage to either team. Play of the game was when SKG has 2nd and 3rd with two out and their #4 kicker accidentally foul tips it to Bill. Inning and game over. With a different draw this team would have made a deep run. I think they lost to meatballs last year 2-0

MIR I think this was the 5th time we played MIR this year. They got the better of us in k365 because of time issues. We were down 4-2 with bases loaded no outs and we hear 3 minutes until game over. We tried to rush and score runs but to no avail. Offensively, MIR has the best offense in kickball, (although our trimmed down roster isn’t far behind). We decided to let their lead off runner score and take the 2nd out which worked out as we won 2-1. This game was played error free on both sides. I guess if there was any day I’d take my first win against MIR it would be at founder’s cup. After we beat MIR I figured we’d have a good shot to win it.

Bullet Proof Tigers. I broke my rib a few weeks before NY so I didn’t get to play with Menace in that tournament. Dumpster fired ended up winning 3-2 so I had a small payback vendetta against them. BPT retired our top 3 but the offense was solid the rest of the game. We left a few runners on base I believe. I had a crazy play were I tried to tag from 1B and ran into one of their guys who’s a brick wall. I just bounced off him and got the wind knocked out of me. They tagged me out by I drew the interference call. I will say BPT is pretty solid. Solid Infield. Good Speed.

(Riff Raff the rematch) – Pretty impressive that riff raff shut down Meatballs. You can’t lose if the other team can’t score on you. From was I read meatballs went 60+ runs scored and 2-3 ra all tourney. Game started the same way for us. 1-2-3 out. Flades was an Others assassin that day. I think RR had 2nd and 3rd one out and their guy kicked a line drive to me at SS. I’m 75 percent sure I could have pegged Flades at home but if I was off target he would have scored and they would have had a guy at 3B. I decided to hold and we held them to 1 run. We had 3 critically plays this game. #1 was the best play I’ve ever seen. Mr. Awesome/POW laid a great bunt down the line. Again I couldn’t tell them apart. Both had pink pants on at this point and made their shirts into tank tops. Anyway, Bill did a no look left footed kick and got him by a half step. The other two important plays were by our girls. Natalie and Kathryn both sac flied the 1st and winning run. Pretty crazy game.

(sidenote) – watched the end of the Ballz Deep game and they basically gave it away. I feel bad for their right fielder.

Championship – BCB The game had a fun atmosphere with the cameras and crowd. The field we played on was also the best field I’ve ever played kickball on. I’m used to rocks, bumps, ditches, glass, and trash in the DC fields. I played these guys last year and we managed to upset them in the sweet 16 only to run out of gas and get crushed 8-1 by a superior meatballs team. Moving on to this year… BCB looked like they reloaded a bit. Everyone on the team was solid but no real stand outs. Good speed, Good fielding, solid girls. From what I remember their pitcher was good but for whatever reason everyone on our team was laying perfect bunts. I think we left a lot of runners on base this game. We ran a squeeze play which I’m pretty sure I beat out. Ref said it hit the back of my foot?? I couldn’t stop after the play and ended up taking out a waka Founder and got drenched in beer. Good times.

Random play. I don’t remember what game it was.. but some guy kicked a bomb into the lights and I couldn’t see it for a few seconds. Almost dropped it and that would have given up two runs. All our games were close so that would have been a fail ;)

9 games of kickball is a lot. Have to give it up to Wilner/Dan/Bill for playing that many games at pitcher/charger/catcher. I was sore just from playing SS. Our girls were ridiculous. Bunts down 1B. Sac flies.. no errors after game 1. Overall everyone played well and did something to win games. It took us a lot longer to gel than I originally thought but it came together at the right time. I’ll trade all the losses we had to MIR and Frosty in the previous tournies for the Cup ;)

Offensively I’d give our mvp award to Dan #4 kicker
Defensively I’d say Bill just cause of his kick against Riff.
Ever wins best 1B of the tourney. Guy was making forward diving catches all day to catch the ball just a little quicker.

Personally I’m pretty happy with my overall performance. I got on base every time except when I had to drag bunts down the 1B line (was prob 2/4 here) or had to sac runners in. Looking forward to FL.. It’s getting cold in DC ;)

I couldn't tell them apart either. I knew Mr. Awesome was the pitcher, but walking through the high-5 line, no clue which is which.

Those lights were a pain. I lost a ball in them in the finals. Finally saw it just before it would have bounced off my shoulder.

I'd give Wilner & Ever any and all defensive MVP awards. Bill's kick was amazing, and at just the right time, but Ever kept runs off the board all day with sick play after sick play at 1B. Wilner pitching 42 innings (or whatever it was) is something that I don't think any other player in the game can do.

Dan is definitely the offensive MVP. Every time our top of the order went down 1-2-3 (which happened 3-4 times on the day), Dan lead off the next inning by getting on base. That was clutch.

My brother and I were with PDunc late into the night Thursday. I can vouch for how wasted he was. We have some random picture of the three of us and another BSCer sitting in someone's table service booth with shit-eating grins on our faces. No idea what we were doing.

i enjoy reading these recaps. if you're who i think you are (tall paul), i think you scored the second run against us as leadoff man in the 2nd inning. i remember thinking during the bottom of the second that we're facing a very dangerous lineup when you guys have speed like that leading off in the 2nd. i don't think we've ever gotten you out.

i noticed they had you freelancing in the infield/outfield on defense. that was the first time i'd seen somebody reposition around the field so frequently, and thought it was a solid strategy. congrats again on the win!

on a personal side note, i'm really pumped for gregg that he got to win a championship. gregg is a great teammate, a class act, and an awesome player.

yeah that's me... I had bill move me down from 3 to 6 in the order cause bunting down 1b seemed to be a waste. I'll prob get out against you the next time we play

Props to greg. I've never seen anyone as happy as him after he won the cup. He can die a complete person now ;)
