Hey folks ... the link to the new Championship Guidelines is up:

http://www.kickball.com/files/WAKA_Worl ... s_2009.pdf

Initial highlights:

(1) Team DQ from division tournament for unsportsmanlike conduct (either regular season game DQ or division tournament game DQ) is now a bar to FC

(2) Deadlines are:
(a) Division completion - 08/13/09
(b) Acceptance of FC invitation - 08/25/09 (captains only)

(3) Check-in can be accomplished at the host hotel or before the first game

(4) Clarifications to WKCR ranking:
(a) Ranking = Regular season weight + Division tourney weight
(b) Tiebreakers = Better division tourney record > Lowest combined RA > RPS

(5) Time limits
(a) Any inning begun must be completed.
(b) Clarification on extra innings: Automatically start new ones up to 70 minutes; WAKA discretion to start extra ones beyond 70 minutes.

(6) Seeding after pool play
(a) WLTF weight > Head-to-Head > Total RA (changed from RD) > Higher Initial Seed
(b) FF = 5-0 (and corresponding WLTF weight)

(7) Rules resolution: CTR in charge of game must issue a final ruling even after consulting Field Manager

I'm happy to relay any questions/concerns to Central, who has asked that I do so -- we are getting this a week before the official announcement in the next KT ...

I am venting, because I think what they did is gay. And here I go:

In our WAKA league, we had 10 regular season games with only 7 teams. We were the only undefeated team with the closes team with 2 losses (which was against us). They just posted the standing and they have the "full" season standings with all 10 games and than the "official" WAKA standings with only 8 games. That is fine, but the way they did it is crap. They took the 2 lowest games and threw them out. This means that the "official" WAKA standings there are 2 undefeated teams. Us and the team we beat twice. I don't mind them taking out the 2 worse "2nd" game match up between teams. But to take both away is crap. With only 7 teams in a league, all teams should have played each other. 2 undefeated team tells me they haven't.

Whatever, we got our bid to Vegas. I don't care about the seeding in Vegas. However, some of you might care about the seeding. Before we were 10 wins and 9 RA. Now we are 8 wins and 3 RA. That hurts you all. I know the RA will change come division tourney time and we could even lose, but I still think it is crap.

I am done now.

so, is this right? does waka only count 8 games total? what about the divisions that play more than that? which games get thrown out? or did his division just get needlessly screwed out of two games?

Sprite is for post-games... only water and , in extreme circumstances, Gatorade (sorry, um, "G") are appropriate in-game beverages.

Well, the WKCG didn't change the division tourney guidelines ... so those still control WLTF weighting ...

And I thought you had a problem. It looks like you have it under control. No SA (Sprite Anonymous) meetings for you.

If I am reading you correctly, the 2 games they took out doesn't control the WLTF weighting. The "official" WAKA records is based off the 8 game modified record. This 8 game record is what WAKA will be seeing.

Oh well. It is what it is. It doesn't bother me, but I know it would bother some others. Because if they beat us and win the division tourney they will have a 100% WLTF % (with 2 losses) and have a lot higher ranking for Vegas than at 84.6%.

Last summer in Hartford, one our teams that qualify did so with a record of 10-0-2 and would have a .916 ranking. If only 8 regular season games count than their record is 9-0-2 giving them a .909 ranking. Now if we get to pick and choose which of the 9 games played count towards the rankings they could finish with a 10-0-1 record and a .945 ranking. Seems kinda trivial yeah, but depending which way you go, a one loss team with 9 games and 3 in the tournament can range from a .909 to a 1 ranking, depending on when in the season they lost the game if WAKA only counts 8.

also, if WAKA requires 8 regular season games, then how does this affect the South Florida divisions that have traditionally (and I think still do) play only a 7 game regular season?
