look at the shadow of the ball in 1&4, in 1 it's on the foul line and 4 it's completely foul

In that case, Diagram 10.6.2 contradicts Diagram 10.2.1.
The shadow indicates the outside of the ball (not the beef of the ball) is on the foul line and it is called fair. However in Diagram 10.2.1 it shows that the beef of the ball (not the outside of the ball) must be on the foul line to be called fair.

If the ball is on the ground (10.2.1), it is foul if it is touching only foul territory. In order to be fair, the ball must be touching fair territory. In 10.6.2, the ball is in the air, at which point the entire ball must be in foul territory to be foul.

Senior_Hooligan wrote:Should be the same! What if the ball squishes and the outside of the ball hits the line? Then the diagram is wrong.

Safety Zak wrote:So the ball is foul in part 4 of this diagram, regardless of the fact that it last touched ground in fair territory and the fielder is in fair territory, since the ball is in the air foul, it's foul

Correct. There is also no more "launch" rule.
