The Scorekeeper wrote:i know. making it on base, advancing runners, scoring runs, catching pop flies... nbd for a lot of you. but for me, it might have been the best game of kickball i've ever played. and of course there is not a shred of photographic evidence so we can all chalk it up to a sunstroke induced hallucination.

I do this often, flipping the order, and it's always a pleasant surprise to see what people who generally kick low can/will do when you have the confidence in them (even if you have to force them!) to put them up top.
I hope you stay kicking 2nd!

Yes, I hope you stay kicking 2nd as well! (At least until Week 7).
Seriously, glad you had a kick ass game for Kick Ass! Don't be so sure about the lack of photographic evidence though. Bryan Pena from Foul Balls was out taking video last night for the Peninsula podcast. He said he got some of every 6:30 and 8:30 game, so hopefully, he got some April highlights.

The Scorekeeper wrote:i did nothing of note last night. my goal going in was, and is always, just don't screw up so badly i cost the team a win. in that, i did perfectly. we won 4-2 (or 5-2? i didn't have the book). i feel like i'm getting into a solid routine at short right, watching for liners and pop flies, backing up 1st base, and generally looking like i'm paying attention so people are less likely to kick my way. i was offered a position on someone's peninsula waar team and told i'd be the best girl they have. lol sorry...
my first at-bat was a 3rd baseline bunt that i feel like was a good bunt, but i came too slow out of the box and got beat to the bag by a couple steps. sucks, too because i was lead-off that inning and i felt like i really had it down. guess it's time for more wind sprints at lunch... meanwhile, my second at-bat we had a runner on 1st and no outs (i was kicking 2nd that inning, but i think 10th or 11th overall). somehow one of the more average pitchers i've ever faced was giving me trouble and what should have been a routine bunt down 3rd ended up going straight up the 1st base line. i got out, but advanced the runner. now, the guy ahead of me was supposed to be the clean up kicker for the set before. he's a pretty massive guy and not especially mobile (boy can he cream a ball, though!). if it had been just about anybody else on the team, they would have made it to third easily on my bunt but this guy made it to 2nd. i mean, hey, at least he advanced and i still did something good, i wish it could have been more productive in some way.
i'm now 1-6 on base for the season. damn, i need to run faster...
