I've made my peace with Rainbow Road, now that I can actually do 3 laps on it without falling ... I like Mario Raceway and, for nostalgia's sake, Mario Circuit 3 ...

I played the original SMK with Yoshi ... so I've stayed loyal to the dumb little green dinosaur ever since, even though the baby characters have a huge advantage. I use the Mach Bike.

I'm gold 50-150cc (all cups) and working on the Mirrors. My VR was as high as 5900, but after too many blue shell-blue shell-red shell losses (and lame opponents choosing my least favorite course, Wario's Freakin' Gold Mine), it's back down to 5200 ...

My highest myVR was 8000, but I think it's under 7000 right now (I haven't played in close to a month). I hate the Gold mine and Toad's workshop.

Mauler, I didn't dip because of the conversation. It's just a little over my head. People would definitely not come back if Lost_Sage and I started talking about the state of professional wrestling out this piece.

True, we'd just attract more NYC folks who are also wrestling marks cross-posting into here ... let's just say there would be enough interest to do a kickball outing to do a WWE house show if the opportunity presented itself ...

And maybe Mario Kart is a safe topic for the MD Fire newcomers to start on ...

Wow. Gotta tune up the WAYBACK machine for this post...

No deck I ever put together was good enough for tournament-level play, but I could roast just about anyone in a pick-up game. Warhammer 40K always looked weird to me. Me and my boys could play Battletech for days on end. I made this 100-Ton Clan Omnimech that had 2 Gauss Rifles, an LRM-20, two Large Pulse Lasers, 6 Medium Pulse Lasers, an ER Small Laser in its head, and enough heat sinks to fire them all in one turn without overheating. :geek:

Lost_Sage wrote:Yeah, I stopped playing the game around 2004. Too many updates. I talked shop with the clerk at a games store up in Burlington earlier this year when I had a job interview up there to get the lay of the land and learn the 69 different mechanics they'd added since I left the magical cards ...

I had stock decks for every type (white weenie, red, black, green stompy, blue permission). My college roomie put together a pretty good 3 color counter-sliver deck. My best original deck ever was 3-color, blue/green/white (Tradewind Rider, Armageddon, any useful little critters, plus just enough counters), which got positively evil when it turned into an extended deck (more dual lands, Force of Will). Funnest deck I ever made was an artifact-heavy deck that could really pump out the mana and get Masticore/Colossues/Covetous Dragons out on turns 1-3 reliably. Still have the type 1 deck (power 9 and all) lying around -- really just need to sell that bad boy. I think it's still worth $1-2K, even though I've played with it instead of letting the cards sit in a binder.

Never got into tabletops ... didn't have the creative personality to be a good DM, and always admired those friends of mind who did. I still very much like Illuminati (fabulous game, surprisingly balanced - a must-play for conspiracy wonks) and Settlers of Catan (also easy to pick up, super-balanced). I have only watched Warhammer games and thought, "Besides the fact that I have no artistic intelligence, I don't think I could spend 6 hours painting this little tiny soldier who's going to get fire-breathed to death by a dragon 20 times his size ..."

(Sorry, folks ... apparently Lilpenny and I are having a gamer moment ...)

lilpenny wrote:Magic is so much more interesting, though i definitely haven't actually purchased any of the new updates for a good couple years. I'm a huge red deck with total annihilation and then I have my slivers deck which is such fun.

The Gamers thread got hijacked by wrestling fanatics

Is there going to be a wrestling thread? Who will hijack that?

now is not a bad time to be watching, actually. some pretty decent storylines going. also, many of the old guard have been moved around or injured or retired, so they're really pushing some new blood. it's been interesting.

I know I am. I'm actually getting there earlier to talk to Robin Kragen about the MSP.

All should come! I've found a green shirt too. It's a green tie-dye from one of my college friends bands called "Fantastapotamus"... you can guess what type of band they were

did you see last friday's show? when they said that he was going to bring out someone who was an expert in Hell in a Cell, i immediately said "mick foley". and that's who it was. i'm either really good or a total loser.

anyway, it looks like that's the direction they're going. it never made much sense for them to make vicky the "good guy" between them. the audience hates her! i mean, hates in a Great Khali, Mark Henry, Big Daddy V, Snitsky, "get the f*** off my TV!!!" kind of way. edge is a great "bad guy" that you'd cheer for just because he's slimy. him cheating on vicky almost makes him more likable.

hahaha! That's my bad, Katie :)

I actually watched one show where this old guy retired if he lost to some guy who does this stomping kick. And he lost, so he retired. I watched it all, and really all I could think of, wow this is the manliest soap opera I have ever seen.

LOL! Awww, that's so cute :D

You'd be referring to Rick Flair getting superkicked my Shawn Micheals. Rick Flair is the guy that retired.

Yeah that's it! And he was all crying and all his kids were there...

But really, when they were doing those fights with the ladder to get to the briefcase... it's so stupidly obvious how slow they're going, or how fake it is. Except for one of the guys. It really looks like he intended to land on that table one way and, well, he never got back up.

I've been waiting for him to get rid of her since the minute they started the relationship. I was hoping that he'd get the title back and then dump her.

Speaking of wrestling AND gaming (oh yes I will tie the two together), anybody remember the old NES boxing game? Mike Tyson's something or other? Yeah I know boxing isn't wrestling, but it's close right? :D

1. New York, of course
2. Shane Dizon. DCI #104671, if I remember correctly. Biggest win - beating an eventual national champ (red burn deck) w/my special 3-color Tradewind concoction.

All of my cards are back in Northern California, at my folks' place. Every now and then, they yell me to get off my butt and catalogue them for selling ... I could just haul the whole lot to Jean at Gator Games and give her the bulk supplies for little/nothing and the value rares on consignment ...

However, all my cards are up in Allentown, PA with my gamer friends from college.
