Wow. Gotta tune up the WAYBACK machine for this post...
No deck I ever put together was good enough for tournament-level play, but I could roast just about anyone in a pick-up game. Warhammer 40K always looked weird to me. Me and my boys could play Battletech for days on end. I made this 100-Ton Clan Omnimech that had 2 Gauss Rifles, an LRM-20, two Large Pulse Lasers, 6 Medium Pulse Lasers, an ER Small Laser in its head, and enough heat sinks to fire them all in one turn without overheating.

I talked shop with the clerk at a games store up in Burlington earlier this year when I had a job interview up there to get the lay of the land and learn the 69 different mechanics they'd added since I left the magical cards ...
I had stock decks for every type (white weenie, red, black, green stompy, blue permission). My college roomie put together a pretty good 3 color counter-sliver deck. My best original deck ever was 3-color, blue/green/white (Tradewind Rider, Armageddon, any useful little critters, plus just enough counters), which got positively evil when it turned into an extended deck (more dual lands, Force of Will). Funnest deck I ever made was an artifact-heavy deck that could really pump out the mana and get Masticore/Colossues/Covetous Dragons out on turns 1-3 reliably. Still have the type 1 deck (power 9 and all) lying around -- really just need to sell that bad boy. I think it's still worth $1-2K, even though I've played with it instead of letting the cards sit in a binder.
Never got into tabletops ... didn't have the creative personality to be a good DM, and always admired those friends of mind who did. I still very much like Illuminati (fabulous game, surprisingly balanced - a must-play for conspiracy wonks) and Settlers of Catan (also easy to pick up, super-balanced). I have only watched Warhammer games and thought, "Besides the fact that I have no artistic intelligence, I don't think I could spend 6 hours painting this little tiny soldier who's going to get fire-breathed to death by a dragon 20 times his size ..."
(Sorry, folks ... apparently Lilpenny and I are having a gamer moment ...)

Ever play any tabletops? D&D, Exalted, Mage, BELM, Zombies?
