Point is, Scottie and I hate each other via e-mail/MB enough to own up to this. If one of us backs down from the challenge the other will never hear the end of it, and that’s motivation enough to actually make this happen and put the debate to rest once and for all. We don’t need stakes to make it relevant. I’m fine to add a few pitchers to the wager, but that’s not really the point, and you clearly don’t get that.

And your structure is BS, so stop pushing it. Scottie and I will come up with our own challenges - we already have - and we don’t need your waste-of-time events added to it (like dodgeball distance throw...which might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard). And as far as “officiating,” Scottie and I don’t need you to keep score in order to know who wins. If I throw the ball further than him, I win. And if he beats me in a race, he wins. The shit ain’t brain surgery. That being said, I have no problem if you elect to watch the madness ensue when we do pick a time/place, but that’s where your involvement will end.

Scottie and I in reality don’t really have hard feelings, and I think he’d agree with me on that...we’re actually good friends. He’s one of the first true friends I had in Richmond, and although he doesn’t admit to it very often, he started playing kickball because I invited him on the ORIGINAL Liger team! (my guess is that he probably doesn’t admit to it out of shame cuz we’re SO AWESOME and he wishes he never left!) Anyway, we vociferously hate each other via message board and e-mail and have this rivalry ever since he left the Ligers for what he perceives as bigger and better things. That’s where this “hatred” stems from, and it’s not even real.

And for the record, I have never denied my Liger heritage. I will wholeheartedly admit that the most fun I've ever had in kickball was that first season when you guys formed the Ligers and invited me to play. I would have never left except that I'm really competitive and wanted to be more competitive in the style we played (while still getting hammered of course). You and Chuck had no interest in doing so (which is absolutely fine) but I was always pissing you off with trying to talk strategy and you were always pissing me off cause you refused to listen to my advice/ideas on principle. Joining another team was not an easy decision but at the time I thought it would be better for both parties (I'm not so sure it worked out that way though). I don't neccessarily regret it either though as I have also really enjoyed traveling to all these tournaments and competing which is always a blast. Something that I think we can both agree the Ligers would have never done as a group.

Yes, Luke and I are good friends. It just doesn't seem that way at all on here.

Funny that you call my structure bs seeing as you suggested the 40 and the 100 and the dodgeball throw seems to be the best way to show who has the better arm - throwing a softball is really no different. The Oklahoma is the best tackling drill out there, and a few days ago you guys were talking about who is more agile, and the 5 cone agility test is the test used in NFL combines (so it must be good). I suggest the structure and the officiating and whatnot just to make this a little more fun... Do Ligers not like to have fun? I know it doesn't directly involve me, but you can't say that what I've proposed wouldn't be a good time. I know the two of you are friends, which is why i suggest a friendly wager of beer, knowing that you two will both want a drink when you're done with this.

Pay attention dammit...the events we talked about were on page 1. I think it was 40 meter/100 meter races, Oklahoma whatever the fuck (which I simply didn't have a name for but my suggestion was the same thing), and a softball throw.

I don't disagree with your agility drill being a good agility indicator and I already said the 10 throws at each other would be a decent addition if only to prove dodgeball prowess (which sparked this debate in the 1st place). Neither have a whole lot to do with what this debate was REALLY about though, which was a) throwing ability and b) tackling ability, so I'll let Scottie decide on those 2 events. Throwing a softball instead of a dodgeball is a no-brainer though...throwing a dodgeball as hard and far as you can is just asking for you to throw out a shoulder because they're so damn light and the less resistance thing is terrible for your arm. That's why all our baseball coaches told us not to throw a tennis ball very often, because it'll fuck up your elbow and shoulder when you're used to throwing something heavier (i.e. a baseball or softball).

My point is that your additions to the structure are pointless, as are every comment you've made to this thread. You just took what we already suggested and added dumb shit like "distance dodgeball throw." Again, let Scottie and I deal with the specifics and just butt out, because neither of us give a fuck about YOUR opinion on the matter. If you think otherwise, let's start with the Oklahoma drill with me running and you trying to tackle so YOU'LL be put in your place before Scottie and I even start.

And if its 3 dodgeball throws, then it wont hurt your arm too much, just warm it up first like you would a softball. And my additions of structure serve two major purposes: 1. It turns the shit talking into something tangible. Right now you basically are at the point where you would be standing there yelling "bring it on" but nothing will happen - all talk. If it's one thing I've learned in 4 + years of friendship with Luke, it's that he is not going to be reasoned with. You can keep talking all you want but all it's doing is making him want to do the exact opposite of what you say.

IT was a damn good time. I totally forgot about the slaps, that was hilarious. The first one or two were probably definitely warrented. After that I should have pretended you were a dude and headbutted you.

The dancing action was pretty. I think those of us that were flailing around drunk out there were definitely getting ridiculous looks from all of the non-kickball onlookers.

The evening wouldn't have been complete if it hadn't ended with an absolute classic Maggie tale as well.

And this thread hasn’t been about kickball for a while...this whole thing started because SEVERAL of us started talking shit about dodgeball. I then challenged your noodle arm about dodgeball, and that led to other debates centered around other sports and activities, which I again claimed I would tool you in (i.e. the Frank Thomas catcher corollary). On another note, the fact that you’re calling yourself the best pitcher in the kickball league is ludicrous and a matter of opinion. Last year when we had that award, Jody won, not you. I’m not trying to say you’re not up there in the debate, because you are, but you can’t just go off proclaiming you’re the best at anything when it’s a matter of opinion. I won the MVP...does that mean I’m the best player in the league? No...I just had a good season, good enough for the rest of the voters to agree. That brings up another statement you just made though...that you’re better than me at kickball. On that point, I’ll defer to my MVP award. Also, in my opinion, you’re not a very good kicker either, hence why I don’t think you’re THAT great at kickball as you seem to believe either. YOU are not the reason your kickball team is good...you play on a good kickball TEAM...that is why you always win.

The bigger point is that trying to throw a kickball with some weird bounce half sidearm...that doesn’t mean you have a good arm! Even Olsen could pitch pretty effectively in kickball. Also, you said it perfectly, strength EQUATES to some athleticism debates, but lifting a bar that’s heavier than a bar I’m lifting doesn’t mean anything as far as you being a better athlete...that is factual. The strength debate will be a part of each of the skills we’re talking about, just like flexibility and balance. And don’t try to say I have recent rugby/tackling experience, I’ve played once a year in the VT alumni game for the past 4 years...that’s it, so don’t make pre-emptive excuses already. I've asserted that I am a good athelete and very good at certain things and that was only in oppossition to you being a dick and saying I'm not athletic at all. I'm sure you and Whit could be better pitchers, you were after all both baseball pitchers. But the fact is, you aren't better then me at that presently cause you don't pitch. AND, I don’t want to anyway, we have a perfectly capable pitcher in Jody and I’m more needed at 3B. And again, you saying I’m not a good 3B is simply your attempt to tear me down...because you say it doesn’t mean it’s not true. I get plenty of munters out just like anyone else, and I don’t charge the plays half the time because if everything doesn’t go ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, there’s no play at 1B anyway, and making a play there often results in someone taking an extra base when I’d rather just let you munters load the bases so we have a shot at forceouts at other bases. I’ve gotta play to the strengths of my team, who isn’t as good as your team, and that’s the better play for us.

And my HR analysis is NOT bullshit, but whatever. Keeping stats = mark that should-be popout as an error, not a HR. In kickball, people are given however many bases they get to, but half the bases they get are based on errors anyway. And p.s., no matter how it “really happened,” I DID win the MVP. I was there. I got it. And if you truly got voted in for it, good for you, but the stats speak for themself anyway and both you and I were deserving for the award regardless.

If it weren't for pitching part time on Wednesdays, f/t on Thursdays, and being 40.5 yrs old, I think I could have swept that "best pitcher" title two seasons in a row. Not sure about the power loss, maybe we need to get that radar gun out Enough about me, this is about y'all.

My comment was in no way meant to be a slight on you bud. You continue to be a great pitcher. I just think I improved enough to pass you this past season. I watched and reffed quite a few of your games. I certainly would characterize the difference as being by any sizeable margin whatsoever and next season you could very well show me up. I just think I had a slight edge. I'm definitely aware of you age and your previously broken pelvis. It certainly makes your pitching performance much more impressive then mine. I will be lucky to not be drooling out of the side of my mouth when I'm 40...if I make it that long.
