Open Letter to NY Liberty

New York City, NY

Postby Jared It Up! » June 30th, 2009, 6:50 am

Dear NY Liberty,

Until yesterday, we have not experienced the hate that the league feels for us. It was such a surprise. We went against a team that has a lot of fun, yet they were making fun of us every inning. So what if kickball is our lives? We want to be the best kickball players we can be. You may think we are not having fun, but the fact is, we are having a great time.

When the ref told me that we should take it easy and we would win anyway, she was really angry at me. The first inkling that I got that she hated us was when she made up a rule that sent ad-rock back to third base after scoring. That was interesting, but since we are having a great time, we decided not to argue and let our next kicker get a 2 run RKI.

OK, I know the spike might have been a little out of line when I caught that ball. I know a guy on the other team made a couple comments to me, but since we were having such a fun time, I decided to make it more fun by spiking the ball. Then at the bar, a guy told one of my teammates that he wanted to beat me up (didn't actually hear it and he might have said something else), but I don't fight. I just want to have a good time. Fighting is something that is done by low class individuals and Lock It Up does not sink to that level.

Then after the game when I was addressing my team after our regular season championship, we heard many comments from the refs! We were excited to LOCK UP our Vegas bid! THE UNBIASED REFS! WHY DO THEY HATE US? I sense that the hate has grown over the season and all I ask is that you, NY Liberty, stop hating us and realize that we just want to have a good time.

See you on the field and hopefully one of your teams can join us on our flight to Vegas.

Love,
Jared

Even tho the pitcher did not have the ball the play had been "dead long enough", it was the classic case of a team bitching without the pitcher having the ball on the mound and the smart team taking advantage of it on the bases.

Jared, she definitely didn't like you. When I was coaching third and you were up at bat, she was like "he's a f***ing asshole, I hope he gets out." She kept bitching about you to the other team. Very unclassy.

What would HTKC do? We would've embraced our haters and find more ways for them to hate us more!

What the hell does dead long enough mean? Was the ball overthrown? Was the person with the ball argueing something and being stupid? Were they just screwing around wasting time? If the ball was "dead long enough" and not in the pitchers hands then maybe the refs should have given them a delay of game warning.

I love how everyone is talking about the rule, when Mr. Rock scored anyways and the call didn't have any weight on the game. The real issue at hand is the attitude the other teams have towards you.

It part of the territory of being a competitive team when there are "weaker" teams in your division. It sucks, but it happens and think positive. In a few weeks you will be playing a tourney with 15+ competitive teams that respect the way you play!

it was me at 2nd 1 out Wilson at bat. Wilson kicks a line drive right down 3rd baseline and the 3rd base ump says fair ball and I stop at 3rd, Wilson into 2nd. the left fielder fields the ball and throws it to the 3rd basegirl who is arguing that the ball was foul as I book for home.

They argue that Jared was screaming foul so they didn't play the ball (which is retarded, why would the team who kicked the ball do that) and that they had the ball in control long enough for the play to be dead.

it was a wild play. Wilson kicked a line drive that bounced right before 3rd base and went right over the cone, so I started yelling "yeah yeah yeah" and was waving everyone around, but they thought I yelled foul. In the mean time, their bench player threw the ball back in play. So when the 3rd basewoman had the ball, ad-rock ran home as she was winding up to throw to the pitcher. After the play, they said he had to go back. I didn't argue. Shane kicked in both runs in his next at-kick. Lots of hate from them, but lots of love from me.

Dear Guys
Words cannot express how much I hate you guys.
As we fight our way northway into the great unknown, only that one thing remains certain, that I hate you guys, with every tired muscle in my confederate body.
We have taken Topeka, and now I must rally the men out to Missoury, because I will not stop until we have won it all,and you guys are my slaves.
Because I hate you guys,I hate you guys so very very much.
Yours,General Cartman Lee

This is true but it was the arguing on that play that lead to majority of the hatred, the run didn't matter. They thought we called one of their girls fat, they didn't know the rules and we were arguing for the right call so immediately we are the assholes.

This happens a lot. I try and tell new refs only yell foul balls and point towards fair territory when it is a fair ball. Because when yelling foul and fair really loud, they both can sound like one another and create confusion.

Shouldn't it be a dead ball since a non-fielder touched the ball?

I really wish I was sober right now to fully appreciate this situation.

I would say who cares what anybody says about you guys because y'all know how you play blah blah blah- but the truth is you really don't care what these people say and the season is basically over and you have your bid anyway.

p.s. Tweasy, that original post in this thread may be your most coherent and relevant one ever. Cheers.

You could always tell Jenny Jun's team that her refs did a crappy job. Or start every sentence the way I do with her, "So the board might actually give you guys a forfeit for doing such a bad job reffing," just to scare her.

Most of the folks on Vandelay I get along with, after 3 years/4 seasons of being in the same league. There are always going to be a few with any team.

Most of the folks on Vandelay I get along with, after 3 years/4 seasons of being in the same league. There are always going to be a few with any team.

Yeah, well it was just weird that they made up rules. Hopefully they win their first round playoff game.

Jenny is a sweetheart and will probably read this.
Vandelay is a fun team, but has continuously admitted that they will not bunt nor like a team that bunts. But they show their spirits at the flip cup table

I think only 3-4 people kicked away on their team last night.

here's the thing...I definitely say a lot of things. Fat is not something I would even say. She said that someone overheard me call someone else fat. I don't mind when someone gets mad at me for my comments, but it sorta bothers me that people are saying I called someone fat.
