POOL A Breakdown

Postby TQO » February 9th, 2010, 11:37 am

Riff Raff (FTL)- At the Founder's Cup this team finished pool play 2-0-1 giving up 2 runs, and beating the eventual champs, The Others 5-1. In single elimination the beat Ball Fockers (CA) 12-0, Lock it Up (NY) 2-1, and Meatballs (FL) 1-0 before losing to the eventual champs, The Others (DC) 2-1 in the semifinals. In the two most recent completed divisions in Fort Lauderdale, Beach and Riptide, Riff Raff finished the regular season 7-0 before falling in the semifinals. Each loss in the semis was to the eventual champions. The pink squad is full of speed, the defense is tight everywhere with a stellar infield, and their first basemen has been on the cover of ESPN The Magazine. Depth has always been a question at the high intensity positions of P, C, and charger.

Relax & Let it Happen (TX) - The best team in Texas may start to mean something if Relax can make a run in SoFla. They were the #12 ranked team at the Founder's Cup in Vegas meaning they did something right during the regular season. They ran through pool play and beat Gold Members (NV) 13-0 and a strong WKYB team from AZ 3-0 in single elimination. Then they lost in the quarters to BCB, the eventual runners-up, 7-2. Many players and teams will tell you that if you give up 7 runs on the biggest stage, you are not elite. However, if they did their homework in Vegas and applied it to their game since, look out.

St. Louis Bigballers - A team of hand selected kickballers from a league of 140 teams sprouts the scene's first pro team. At last year's SFLKO they finished 1-2-1 with 7 runs for and 11 runs against. They beat the one team they were expected to beat from Hoboken, and tied a strong Balls Deep team. Both the Meatballs and Dumpster Fire dominated them on defense, each pitching a shutout. They have another year of recruiting and another year of practicing the WAKA rules to try and even the gap. Oh, and their coach has a corporate card to pay for all their drinks, and he's not afraid to use it! So make nice!

Satanic (MIA) - Also known as Free Mustache Rides from Miami. The last completed regular season they finished 9-0 to win the championship and gave up 11 runs during the regular season. Miami has not caught up to Fort Lauderdale, or at least has never tried to prove that it has. This will be a chance for them to come and learn how to play defense and hopefully make a splash in upcoming tournaments.

Our Balls Your Face - No information on this team. Let's all make a point to welcome them and get them hammered.

I think the fact there are a lot of unknowns with the Lou and Texas teams makes this pool a challenge for Riff Raff. Plus it sets up real nicely for one (maybe both) of these out of towners to make it to single elimination.

I want to wish OBYF, some of whom are my former teammates, the best of luck in this tournament. I hope they find the experience fun and not too overwhelming.

There's a chance they might go 0-4. But I hope they don't find it discouraging if they do.

TX vs. Riff Raff should be a good match. Interested to see how it turns out.

I would need some more infor on Bangers and Dash (aka Art's team) before I could do a breakdown on Pool B. I'm guessing this team will be made up of former Young Guns/Tricky Bunnies/All Night Long/Regulators that have not been picked up by other teams. That being said, with the number of Guns that I already know are on different teams, it may not be appropriate to connect the teams.

That would be nice. My facebook status at the moment is a request for a scouting report and/or roster details. I'm also guessing that this team will look similar to the Green Team from Beach.

comparing Cobra Kai to St. Augustine isn't really a fair comparision. With Cobra Kai, there was at least WAKA pages were you could see how they had fair in division play. With the little info out there on Banger and Dash, I would think they would be a closer match to Cobra Kai.

I agree, Fro. You can base your analysis all you want on past achievements or failures, but the fact remains that most of the teams have significantly different rosters than in seasons past.

It is still fun. ESPN makes a killing on predicting fantasy football stats and NFL draft picks.

Someone in FTL should be able to give the scoop. Not sure what the hold up is.

I like these breakdowns...good job fellow martin. however, I didn't really see any real predictions.

I have this pool as either the easiest pool or tied for the easiest. I completely respect st. louis and relax and am very happy they are coming to this tourney. Im sure they will definitely give riff raff a run for their money and will probably advance. But while an upset could very well happen, I dont know if this bracket really has a true #2 team compared to the other pools. Until they prove otherwise, I look at st. louis and relax probably on almost the same level as cobra kai (but maybe not quite)..a third team in another pool.

Barring riff raff letting someone win like a certain team did in vegas (kidding!)...my predictions:
Riff Raff - 4-0
Relax: 2-1-1
St. Louis: 2-1-1
Satanics: 0-4
OBYF: 1-3

Since we're talking about one specific team with Art being the only person I know for a fact to be on the team, any analysis at this point would be the same as just making it up.

The funny thing is the one team you probably most need a scouting report on to make pool predictions is M2S.

That's my point. Half the people going don't even know how their own teams are going to perform, much less how other teams are going to do. All the top teams have lost/picked up a lot of players.

It didn't stop you all to break down that shit last year on every tourney.

Better then having to do some work!
