Boca Pre-Season Rankings

This is a sneak preview of what you will see appearing in the preseason GMOT before Friday's games, but I thought I'd start the conversation going early by reving up all you 365 junkies a few days before game 1...

Boca's Best Baller's - Pre-Season Edition

# 1: MEATBALLS
Fresh off their South Florida Kickball Tournament victory against some of the best competition in the world, the MEATBALLS have to be the pre-season favorite to take the Boca 2010 Championship. Rumor has it that they drafted this Boca team specifically to take to the 2010 Founder's Cup in Las Vegas. They are aiming to earn a number one overall seed in that tournament by giving up zero runs against (RA's) the entire season in Boca. Will the rest of the Boca Division lie down and let this happen? Only time will tell.


# 2: DTTP
Drink Till They're Pretty is set to take the field at Hillsboro El Rio Park for the first time since steamrolling through the playoffs and taking the Spring 2009 Boca Division Championship. Last season, they lost (for the first time in franchise history) to two teams drafted specifically to beat them. This season's squad has slimmed down a bit and is primed to make a deep run in the playoffs. At this point, it seems like only the MEATBALLS stand in their way, but a very tough schedule against all the pre-season top five teams will, once again, force DTTP to earn their respect on the field.


#3: Kick Tease
Talk about experienced kickballers! Kick Tease has been playing Boca since it seems like forever, and they are always one of the top clubs in this division. Unfortunately, a championship has eluded them season after season. They certainly have the talent to beat most of the teams in this league, but it seems like they somehow always come up short when it counts. They will have plenty of opportunities to prove me wrong, however, as they play DTTP in week two, a team they are 0-3-1 against lifetime.


#4: Feets O' Fusion
Feets O' Fusion was a very competitive team in season's past, but for numerous reasons (mainly team in-fighting), last year they definitely took a nose dive near the bottom of the division. They too slimmed up this season and have re-formed to once again become a formidable opponent for all of Boca to handle. Don't sleep on this experienced team, because they will come back to bite you. Additionally, they are playing for more than pride, as their captain is very close with the late Shaun Foley, whose charity we are raising money for this season. No doubt, Feet's O' Fusion are the sentimental favorites of the Boca Division.


#5: NADS
The NADS are also plenty experienced, but like Kick Tease they always seem to come up short when the pressure is on. They have quickness and agility at the top of their lineup, but not much else after that. Look for this team to move up quickly in next week's rankings, however, if they are able to get past #4 Feets O' Fusion in week one.


#6: Mind the Stepchildren
This team is a hodgepodge of a bunch of Sawgrass players and some returning Boca kickballers. Word on the street is that this year's Ball Busters will be much more competitive than in season's past. How they come out of the gate will say a lot about how far this team goes this season, as their first three games are seemingly winnable.


#7: Wingmen and the Hot Wings
The Wingmen take the field for the second season in a row and hope to improve on their sole tournament win over the Boston Tea Bag Party. They were easily thrashed by DTTP in the second round of last year's playoffs, and wouldn't you know it, they get their chance for revenge in week one this season when the two square off for the late game. A major upset over DTTP would do a lot for their Boca rankings, but don't hold your breath. Look for the Wingmen to continue to be mired in mediocrity this season.


#8: The Boston T-Bag Party
Right behind the Wingmen lie the T-Baggers. The T-Bags recruited some season veterans for their club last season and they have them again this time around, but will a few good additions finally make this team competitive? Probably not, says this critic. But who knows, they did start off last season with three straight wins, and the season before they scored a major upset over the once mighty (and now defunct) Pirate Hookers in the playoffs. The T-Baggers will have to show me more this season before I will be ready to scoot them higher than this 8th place ranking.


#9: Go Ugly Early
This is the team formally known as the Uniballers. They have some talent and experience with the big red rubber ball, no doubt about that. But all together, this Kilt-led team has always put the word "fun" way before the word "compete", and it will remain that way this season as well. Look for this fun-loving bunch to battle it out for last place.


#10, #11, #12 (In no particular order): Florida Fist Pumpers, Incrediballs, Wyld Stallyons
Since these three teams are brand new to kickball, it is impossible to give them any kind of fair pre-season ranking. As such, I have them all at the bottom to start out because in kickball, like in life, you have to prove your worth before you are given any sort of raise - and that definitely includes a raise in the Boca kickball rankings. So good luck newbies, and have fun!

We are the same team as beach/sfko + 6 more that want to play on friday nights in boca. You all should see a pretty similar top 12 kicking order but probably a much different defense. The 0 ra is a nice goal but is going to be very tough with all the subs and having players out there who never played together. But going 11-0 should be a walk in the park

Well, you threw the last game of the season to ensure the purple team got an opportunity to play us. Oh, and you staked 1-2 ppl at our game (while your game against each other was going on) to monitor it and relay back so you would know who needed to win. your argument = fucked.

The sitting down thing and lurking around our game vs. Kick Tease was beyond immature, it was disrespectful to those teams in Boca that play simply for the fun of it. Tons of people came up to us after that week and were disgusted by those unequivocally unsportsmanlike actions.

MeatheadKevin, I have a scavenger hunt for you. Please find in the pre-season rankings above where I "continue to talk shit about a team THAT THEY HAVE NEVER PLAYED BEFORE." I'm assuming you are referring to your team, the Meatballs. Well, if I'm reading the same thread you are (which I think I am because, oh yea, I wrote it), then you are once again talking out of your arse.

One would think that the Meatballs who roam this site would be very happy to see me place them as the #1 overall pre-season favorite to win Boca. To be honest, I posted this thread mainly to give the Meatballs respect and props before the Boca season started and to calm the waters a bit, but all I got back was smack talk from the Meatdouche.

To refresh everyone's memory (especially MeatheadKevin's), I noted in the blurb about the Meatballs that they, and I quote: Won the SFKO "against some of the best competition in the world" and "Have to be the pre-season favorite to win the Boca Championship". Hmmmm, doesn't seem like a lot of smack talk, now does it? What more could I have said to make them happy? I guess they don't like compliments either. Geez, there's just no helping some of them. Pity too, I thought we could start the season off right and just be friends.

Well hey, at least people can't say I never extended an olive branch...

It would be unsportsmanlike if we were sitting down in the field against a team that we dont know. But we did this against each other. Its called having fun!! We didnt care who was going to win because we knew that we would meet in the final and play a real game. If we split the 2 games we would have needed to play a rubber match to decide who drafted a better team. So instead we decided to wait to the final and ended playing the most fun kickball game(sitting down game) we all have ever played .Nothing in that game was against waka rules. There was actually a waka rep in that game playing so stop your bitching. The "tons" of people that came up to you disgusted probably have no common sense because it had absolutly no effect on their lives. I think it just bothered you. Yes we had people keeping track of the score in your game because I DID NOT WANT TO PLAY AGAINST THE SAME TEAM FOR THE 3RD TIME IN ONE SEASON! So I let my buddies have a game against you since they were not scheduled to play you . And we knew it would bother you (FISH ON).

Machinegun how about we take a poll of people who have read my material and ask them if they think what I write should be referred to as "cheap shots", or whether they think I am just putting down things that I observe on the fields/bar every week...I have had tons of peeps tell me they love my material, namely the Boca Board who for the last three seasons have asked me back again and again to write more and more articles on different stuff (redemption last year, power poll this year, awards stuff this year).

Sure, I put in "smart ass comments" as you call them, in all my articles. I prefer to refer to those comments as sarcasm. From all the GMOT's I've ever read in any division, sarcasm is the name of the game in kickball newsletters. They are kickball newsletters, after all. Nobody is ever suppose to read into them as real cheap shots against teams or individuals. They are all meant in good fun. And when I do write articles (note the spelling of write, not to be confused with right ), I try to keep them relatively in context as a sports reporter would.

And Jimmybeans, yes I remember the flip cup tables last year because I ran the damn redemption games. You all kicked ass every week, no question. I have some homework for you though: please re-read all the redemption articles in the GMOT's from last year, focusing only on what I said about your team. I gave you all props in every single one, including the final edition which came out last week.
