It's not hype, you asked a question and you got an answer. Just like you defend Sloppy I'm going to defend EC in my reasoning. It mostly wouldn't have even cared (not saying I wouldn't have responded, lol) if Trey wasn't trying to compare a bunk tournament from back in '08 as an indicator for this year's team.

i asked a question...you answered w/ the best of your ability. that ability was comparing to my team. correct? you are saying all this about EC and all i am trying to tell you is GOOD LUCK hope you dont have to swollow your pride when it comes to TKO. i hope you guys do well. i obviously like the people on your team b/c i have played with or play with a few of you.

trey is trying to bait you. you bit. i dont see this years team being anything like the 2008 team. its like sloppy isnt the team you playing in the pen. tourney

Yes, I did mention 4 core Sloppy players out of 11 played in that tourney. I didn't make any BS excuses.

No, I know you didn't James. I was referring to Kate's statement about us not making bullshit excuses if we suck in the open tourneys. And then the next post she said MOST of Sloppy wasn't there.

But really, Sloppy did represent at the POT. You guys played great all day. Raised money for an excellent cause. And made it to the semis before falling to a team that matched up with them very well. No reason to make excuses for that. You guys had a great tourney and I have massive respect for you all.

brent i am SAYING that you and george have made this hype surrounding your team. if that is not proven in a tourney then you will have to take back somethings you have said. do i want that to happen...no do i want you guys to do well and pull some upsets of course! when i say bullshit excuses....i say dont make up excuses. you have made your bed now

We aren't trying to create hype. And we aren't saying we're world beaters. Just pointing out our opinions... You didn't see anything on McCoy's top 30 thread from us. Do we think we can beat a lot of those teams on there? Yeah. Have we proven it? Not yet... So trust me when I say, we're going to do our best and compete and we'll let the chips fall where they may. I believe in my squad. That's all.

Again, in comparing Sloppy to our team, we aren't looking to put down SS. It's a sign of respect. You guys are really good. We believe we can play on that same level... Now, we look forward to proving it (again).

Paniky Trey wrote:So basically you think you're just as good as Sloppy, right? The point is that most people on this board strongly disagree. Sloppy would beat EC 3 out of 5 times when they're playing "sloppy." It might be a clean sweep if they play five good games in a row--even if EC plays flawless as well.

I still want to see where you think the EC skill players stack up against the top teams in the division. Would you mind doing that for us?

Great Trey, I'm glad you think that way. It comes a lot from someone who has never seen a team play. You can go back now and change what you said about the odds of us against Sloppy is 3:5 only if their playing "sloppy". You're nothing but a walking contradiction and nothing you have to say is more than verbal :puke: in my book and a lot of others. The only people disagreeing with what I've mentioned is teams that have been used in comparison (which nothing wrong with that cause every team should be sticking up for themselves) but if you look at any words from players who weren't mentioned in those comparisons and have ACTUALLY SEEN US play you'll notice that they've pretty much said we're capable of producing like we've mentioned. Even yourself agreed with what we had to say by placing your bookie odds on our games against the top teams in recess but you're probably chosing to ignore that now just for the sake of argument so I really have nothing else to say to someone who is blatantly out to "stir the pot" and can't help but continually contradict themselves. LAME!

Give it a effing rest. EC is a legit team and yes I think they they would match up well with Sloppy. Does this mean that they can match up with PA and the Core? Not necessarily. AO tied Frosty and MIR last season and both teams were far better than us. EC is better than ViDF, they've had more time to play together even if you consider the talent level as a push. AO beat ViDF and lost to Tundrafeet and ICH (twice). What does that say about us?? That's why the games are played.

Why can't EC match well with Panik and The Core? Sloppy lost by no more than a point in the Recess Division.

George, I have seen EC play. I've played against you, and beat the crap out of you. I've also seen all of your skill players play. You claimed in a previous post that your P, C, and Ch were all one of the top players in the division. I've asked you to quantify that claim in an ordered list. Can you please do that? Apparently you are the only person qualified to rank EC players, so I want to see how others would stack up according to you.

Thanks Kim, we've been pretty clear about saying we wouldn't match up with PA and Core.

Kate, like Brent put it, we've never been out for "hype" but if you ask us a question about our team we're going to answer. If we wanted hype we would have started a page trying to say we're the best team ever blah blah blah, nobody can beat us blah blah blah. No matter what the results are from the tournament, I'll still believe what I've stated. Just like Sloppy needed some time to grow in Southside, we do as well by playing better competition in these tournaments and on a more consistent basis which we lack in peninsula but we definitely have kickball in us to hang with some of the best this area has to offer.

LOL, Brent, 15th best pitcher...you forgot to rank Whitney, so make that 16th. I could care less about about individual player rankings, because players will obviously rank higher depending on the players around them. If I was on PA and Larry was on the Wacky Wahoos, would he still be 1st and me 6th? I'd definitley rank him higher than me in the hair category.

Trey, care to elaborate when you played cause if you're going back to '08 then again you're making a worthless case trying to compare that team to now? You're like Napolean's dynamite still living in the past. The point of comparison is this seasons EC in comparison to recess this season.

I think Brent did a fairly good job of the rankings though I'd give him a little more credit on his pitching. lol The thing with ranking players is theres no clear answer and it's all a matter of opinion. Like I said, who was better last year, Zack Greinke or Tim Lincecum. Those guys are all in the same class and its hard to distinguish a clear cut winner and it's easier to to class those players in tiers. That being, I think EC has a player in the top tier in each one of those positions.

Man, you really aren't good at this are you Trey. It really is too easy to discredit anything you post. Let's point out your magic twists again. That was published in the Peninsula division message board for starters. Also, if you even took a minute of the time to maybe read you would have noticed that this has nothing to do with me saying EC is the "best team ever" however the very first post is asking a question if we could repeat at first in the peninsula division because we thought we wouldnt have Randy returning for this Spring. You really might want to think what you post because you're just making a mockery of yourself in front of everyone if you already haven't. I would sarcasticly say good try again but its just too pathetic to be sarcastic with anymore. LAME!!! lol

See the difference in kickball is, the best players end up playing for the best teams. It's just the nature of the beast. You can rank the skill players at each position within 1-2 spots of their teams' final spot in the standings. If you're on a 6th or 8th place team there is almost no chance that you're top three at your position. Any team that has the 3rd best Charger and the 3rd best Catcher in a league as deep as Shore/Recess would be a lock for a Top 25 team in the country. No question about it. If these rankings are accurate, I expect EC to at least make the quarterfinals of TKO III.

Well like I've said, its about us having the ability. We have the skills players there and if we execute like we're capable of a quarter final finish (just going off of recess teams, I havent had a chance to look at the rest of the field) is possbility but then again its a game and anything can happen. I've never said we're THE top 4 team in recess if we played but I gave a range with 4th as our BEST case scenario and some space for us to fall because we also could lose some games to tough teams too. Too many things can happen and any team can win.

It could happen. We're going to do our best. I'm sure it'll be a fun tourney, and if we fall short of the quarters or wherever, we'll be back for the k365 looking to build on our performance.

Oh and like Kim posted earlier, your side of the water is different from the peninsula. There is no player poaching and teams are very loyal to who they play for. The EC is actually a group of friends that was hanging out before our kickball days even started so we're not a team who goes outs and recruits or players flock to cause they want some super mega squad to compete with. Everyone sticks with their team unless the case comes up where a team disbands so there's no flowing of talent together.

5. Daniel
6. Will
7. Larry (Tiki)

Using the above ranks, this is how the infields would be ranked according to EC:

Core - 2.7
PA - 3.0
EC - 3.7 (George previously said that Brent was a notch below Dan and Alvin, so I ranked him 5th)
Tiki - 3.7
SS - 5.0
OLK - 6.0

Curious as to your rankings by pos, Trey. And this isn't to argue. I really do respect your opinion.

Ohhhh, that's the difference. I thought the worst teams got to pick up the best players like the NFL draft. Now I'm clear.

Can't argue with that really. These are all great players, so you could arrange them in virtually any order and it wouldn't look ridiculous... I definitely agree that I'm not in the top 6 for pitchers. Although, I am pretty sure I did lead the league in strikeouts of male players this past Recess. Got Timmy and a guy from Tiki looking. That's probably why the pitcher, catcher or charger from the 2009 world champions didn't make your list

That would rank the Defenses:

1. Panik (2.0)
2. Core (2.7)
3. Tiki (3.3)
4. OSC (4.0)
5. SS (4.3)
6. 3rd (5.7)

The top five teams were quite a bit better than the 6-10 teams this year. On paper 3rd String has the 6th best infield, but it would be a toss-up between them, AO, ViDF, and Tundrafeet.

Riff Raff is only the self-proclaimed best infield.

Wasn't this thread about the Recess tourney on Saturday?
