No movement in the rankings after a week in which the upper half of the league took down the bottom half. One more week of uneventful games and then the fun starts! Will there be any let downs this week as the top 4 starts to eye-up each other?
1. (1) Ligers (6-0)
Last week: defeated Fist Pump, 10-1
This week: TBD
Par for the course, double-digit runs scored and a mere run given up. Only one more warm-up game left for the Ligers before they face the #2, #3, and #4 ranked teams in the league.
2. (2) Balls & Brews (6-0)
Last week: defeated MC Team, 5-0 (forfeit)
This week: Fist Pump
Uneventful week for B&B as they gain a win by forfeit. Possible trap game this week for them as they start to eye a matchup with the Ligers in a couple of weeks.
3. (3) Pirate Hookers (5-0-1)
Last week: defeated Where’s My BJ, 6-1
This week: Telepathic Ninja Monkeys
A bit surprised that the Pirate Hookers only put up 6 runs last week, but certainly not going to knock them for it. This team has a grasp on the #3 spot right now, not too far out of the #2 spot.
4. (4) NIM (5-1)
Last week: defeated TBD, 5-1
This week: Where’s My BJ
Just like the teams above them, an uneventful week last week with one more warm-up game to go before the level of competition greatly increases. Another possible trap game this week; don’t want to be overlooking BJ right now.
5. (5) KIOS (5-1)
Last week: defeated Toe Bashers, 8-0
This week: MC Team
Another impressive win by KIOS last week has them moving ever closer to cracking the top 4. Unfortunately for KIOS, it’s probably going to take a loss from a team above in order to move them up. Fortunately for KIOS, the top 4 all play each other in 2 weeks, so if they continue to take care of business, an upward move may be in their future.
6. (6) Fist Pump (2-3-1)
Last week: lost to Ligers, 1-10
This week: Balls & Brews
Not much to say about Fist Pump this week; they took on the giant last week and lost in the same fashion as the rest of the league. If they come out with their heads up this week, they have a real shot at pulling off a big upset.
7. (7) Where’s My BJ (2-4)
Last week: lost to Pirate Hookers, 1-6
This week: NIM
Starting to settle in at the #7 spot in these rankings. Not exactly the worse loss in the world last week, holding Pirate Hookers to 6 runs isn’t something a lot of teams have done this season. Schedule gets a lot easier for these guys after this week; they have a good chance to finish the season strong.
8. (8) Telepathic Ninja Monkeys (1-4-1)
Last week: tied We Got the Runs, 3-3
This week: Pirate Hookers
Not much to say about these next two teams… at least they put on a competitive game. Buckle up this week TNM, it’s going to be a rough ride.
9. (9) We Got the Runs (2-3-1)
Last week: tied Ninja Monkeys, 3-3
This week: Toe Bashers
A win this week, and the Runs can potentially move back up to #7.
10. (10) Toe Bashers (0-6)
Last week: lost to KIOS, 0-8
This week: We Got the Runs
Good news Toe Bashers… it only gets easier from here. Remaining games on the schedule are against #7, #8, #9, and #11 ranked teams in the league. Time to take the lessons learned from weeks past and turn them into victories.
11. (11) TBD (0-6)
Last week: lost to NIM, 1-5
This week: Ligers
At this point in the rankings, you get rewarded for not getting blown out. A close game against NIM at least gets you consideration for a bump up in the rankings.
12. (12) MC Team (0-5)
Last week: lost to Balls & Brews, 0-5 (forfeit)
This week: KIOS
The forfeits are starting to stack up, and I hear of more in the future. Games against MC Team are turning into a bye weeks.
