Please join us in discussing The Circuit - a series of open tournament events hosted by Kickball365 to bring together the ultimate competitive adult kickball teams in America. For more information please visit http://www.ThisIsKickball.com

Postby admin » October 4th, 2010, 6:46 pm

The Circuit is a national collection of tournaments, offering players and teams nationwide the chance to travel to and to compete for cash prizes along the road to the ultimate prize, The Circuit Cup, which is awarded to the top competitive kickball team in the country. The Executive Team of Kickball365, after much discussion and review of the constant feedback received – via Circuit Event Exit Surveys, Forum discussions, Captain Feedback, etc – has updated the Structure of The Circuit Document. Our guideline to how The Circuit should be organized.

Review the updated Structure Document @ http://bit.ly/TheCircuit_2013

What was updated since 2012?

  • Team Definitions included. With a new way to seed Circuit Event the Executive Team has provided terms defining how we view Teams on The Circuit.
  • Provided General Rules associated with Player Eligibility & Participation guidelines.
  • Provided clarification regarding Registration Types on The Circuit.
  • Updated Circuit Scoring System. Whole new formula. With math. Better to grab a cup o’ joe when breaking this down.
  • Provided clarification regarding the deadline a Franchise Owner (Team Captain) has to claim Circuit Points earned at a Circuit Event
  • Simplified Formula associated with a Circuit Team’s CSS Score.
  • Introduced a new method for Seeding A Circuit Event. No longer will Kickball365 recognize “Captain’s Vote” as a official means for seeding prior to Circuit Events.
  • The Circuit now uses an ELO-Based Ranking System.
  • Introduced a new Ranking System to co-exist with the Official Standings of the National Tour.
  • Clarified the Circuit Cup Championship Seeding methodology. To include “Wild Card Teams” and “Kickball365 Circuit League Teams”. The Circuit no longer has a qualification category for “League Champions”.
  • Removed the Circuit Regions concept.
  • Updated the Awards & Prize Pools.
  • Updated the National Tour Voting Categories.
  • Updated the Circuit Cup Championship Registration deadlines.
  • Moved the Wild Card Application registration date up to May 1st (vs. August 1st). Decisions to will still be announced on September 1st.
  • Included Apple’s iOS AppStore & Google Play icons reflecting our new Forum Application available for purchase on either platform.
  • April Update - Additional Player Transfer Examples Added
  • Clarified Kickball365 League Qualifications (Reg. Season Winner and/or Playoff Winner)

WHAT IS THE CIRCUIT

Kickball365 is about love of the game; The Circuit is about seeking out tougher competition. We love kickball and everything it has to offer. Our goal is to offer the country’s most competitive teams and players a setting where they can showcase their hard work and talent and be rewarded for the time and effort that they invest in this sport they love so much.

We believe in kickball as a wholly unique sport that combines the discipline of other sports, while providing a unique experience. Driven by our love of the sport, we built an organization to bring together those who love the sport as much as we do and provide them with the opportunity to compete and socialize with other players from across the country.

We do this by offering one-of-a-kind tournament vacation experiences nationwide. We invite you to discover The Circuit today.

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL TOUR?

The National Tour is the series of Circuit Events held annually across the country, in which registered teams compete for Circuit Points. The Circuit Scoring System (CSS) awards points to registered Circuit teams to determine eligibility for the Circuit Cup Championship and prizewinners for the year-long National Tour Standings.

NATIONAL TOUR SCHEDULE

The schedule of the National Tour can be viewed at http://www.ThisIsKickball.com.

WHO CAN ATTEND A CIRCUIT EVENT?

Anyone can compete in a Circuit Event on the National Tour provided the player is at least 21 years old at the time of registration and has adequate health insurance.

If you intend to compete at the Circuit Cup Championship with your team, then Franchise Owners / Team Captains must officially register your team through the Official Registration System and qualify through one of the two qualification categories detailed below.

TEAM DEFINITIONS

Kickball365 uses the following definitions to classify each Team competing in a Circuit Event on the National Tour:

Established Teams. Established Teams are those teams that have played in a Circuit Event.
Provisional Established Teams. An Established Team has provisional status until they have played in two Circuit Events.

Availables Teams. Teams on which at least 50% of the roster are players who are registered to an Established Teams or have been registered to an Established Team in the previous season. These players may come from multiple Established Teams (e.g. Team “Spoiler Alert” who attended BKO2012).

Open Teams. Teams on which less than 50% of the roster are players who have registered on an Established Team.

RULEBOOK

The National Tour of Circuit Events and the Circuit Cup Championship utilize the Official Kickball365 Circuit Rule Book (v.2013). Only this rulebook with the Official Kickball365 Kickball by Baden Sports (Custom PG-10) are allowed at Circuit Events.

◦ If you play in WAKA, then you will be invited to The Circuit Cup Championship if, in addition to attending one (1) Circuit Event, if you win the Founders’ Cup World Championship Trophy (designated league-wide Championship), not if you win your local League/Division Trophy.

If WAKA continues to keep FC Columbus Day Weekend, then how would a team be able to qualify for the Circuit Cup?

The June California thing is exciting, what part of the state are you thinking? Id love to help out, Ive run into nothing but walls trying to lock a large field down for two years straight, but Id love to get involved in whatever way I can.

Would be ideal to get one in SoCal (you guys deserve a Circuit event, and both of my SoCal tourneys in 2006 still rank as some of my favorite kickball weekends ever), even though I think there was an indie league that pulled off a pretty good one in the Bay Area a few months ago. Maybe the Best of the West folks are interested? Maybe a charity would like a four-figure tournament donation in return for harnessing their better credibility with parks and rec?

Thats a good idea. I'll get feedback about the park situation in Long Beach from BOTW. They had very small turnout as did VAVI, which had a gorgeous park, maybe one of them wants to team with the K365 following.

perhaps it would count for the following Circuit cup, kinda like how fall 2010 division winners qualify for the 2011 FC (theoretically)?

Now the real question is: with eight Circuit events, why would any team waste money going to Vegas for FC? For about the same amount of money a team will spend in Vegas, they could attend both the NM and Cali tournaments.

2. Win a Kickball League Championship in its home Kickball League and compete in one (1) Circuit Event.
• Teams must present Kickball365 with proof of winning a qualifying League Championship.
• If a League consists of multiple divisions within an organization, only sectional, national, or international-level champions, playing at the League’s highest skill division or designated league-wide Championship, will be eligible for the Circuit Cup Championship under this qualification method.
• The League is responsible for designating to Kickball365 which skill division and/or league-wide Championship meets these criteria.

What about leagues that don't have a league-wide championship, just a division championship? Like will winning the toughest division in WAAR, Big League Kickball, or NAKAD qualify?

If they did well at both NM & CA then we'd hope they come to Vegas for the Circuit Cup Championship in the Fall regardless.

We'll launch registration on January 4th. Teams who previously registered in 2010 will likely get a hefty discount... we need to iron out Roster Details before a decision can be made though.

Changing the Cup location after it's been announced would be a very WAKA thing to do. Eventho Vegas isn't very centralized it makes sense for a lot of reasons. FC turnout went thru the roof when it moved to Vegas right?

Really excited about a Cali tourney. Kudos!

I agree that FC attendance went through the roof when they announced it was in Vegas, but the overall competitiveness of FC went down considerably. Most of the new teams in attendance are there because it's Vegas, not because it's kickball. The Circuit is trying to attract teams that prioritize kickball over dressing up in furry costumes and getting hammered at 10am.

I like the Vegas idea for the first year, maybe even the second, but it can change down the road and I think most would be okay with that. If the point is to steal thunder from the other league, then this is the right move and to do it on the same weekend sends a pretty strong message. This is a :ymbringiton: type of message! I will give it to Vegas for being an adult play ground, but LA is also one of the places that everyone should go t at least once in their lives, it is what they say it's all about. :hype:

$1000? Obviously that is a separate fee from the tourneys, so if we don't register, are we still able to win the tourneys prize fund?

Also, is it only the same team or the Manager that gets the "hefty" discount? Or can players that broke off to form their own team get a discount?

I would think that you would want to give the "hefty" discount to first time teams. To give new teams more incentive to join!
