Fully Loaded vs Meatballs - Thursday 7PM - Tale of the Tape

Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Postby sedlak5 » February 7th, 2011, 11:22 pm

Trying to stir up some conversation on the message boards with this post as two of the best kickball teams in the nation square off on Thursday night in Fort Lauderdale - Here it goes:

Fully Loaded (4-0) vs. Meatballs (4-0)- Thursday 7PM

Fake Vegas line:
Meatballs -2.5 Fully Loaded = Over/Under 5.5
Money line - Fully Loaded +280 Meatballs -360

Tale of the Tape: Last Beach season, Fully Loaded took it to the Meatballs in a decisive 6-4 victory. Fully Loaded then came back in Ultra and tied the Meatballs 2-2 in the regular season. The playoffs in Ultra were different seeing a focused Meatball team in a blow-out over the baby blue on route to a championship. This season of Beach, in my opinion, these are the 2 best teams even though JKI and Balls Deep can make a case.

So who has the edge?
Pitcher - MB have 2 of the best I've ever seen, but Rose and TST are very solid Edge: MB
Charger - Damn you Flader - haha Edge: MB
Catcher - I call this one even (BK enter curse word here but little J is under-rated) Edge: Even
1B/Outfield (defensivly) - Both teams are loaded with talent - very slight edge MB Edge: MB
Girls - Both teams have very under-rated girls Edge: Even
Line-up - Meatballs are loaded from top to bottom - could come down to who shows up Edge: MB
Intangibles - Having played for TST, there is not a better kickball coach in the game. This kid would intentionally walk like 6 guys and not have one of them score. Edge: FL

My pick: Meatballs struggle early, but come away with a 4-1 victory but don't sleep on FL in SFLA!

Other game of interest:
Balls Deeper -1 JKI - Over/Under 4.5

Going to have to disagree about GIRLS. Overall ours are the best hands down. No doubt.Edge:MB

I dont disagree about Casey being a good coach but that does not always means he manages the game the right way with his walks. 2nd round of the Ultra league double elimination playoffs will show that. I beleive around 5 of the 9 (this is a guess, but is around that give or take 1) runs scored were by players that were intentionally walked.

We also played 2 games in the Boynton Beach tournament (Dec 2010)and against each other in elimintaion rounds of the founders Cup (Oct 2010).

I think the line seems about right. Not sure how intense this game will be. I know about 18 people that are zoned in on SFKO and kind of going through the motions at Beack kb. We'll see..

The boards have been pretty boring. Occasionally though you'll find a gem. I've been enjoying Meatball Kevin's attempted rape of Edge.

As a firm believer in the use of intentional walks, just because some of those intentional walks scored, it doesn't mean it was the wrong strategy. Just bad execution.

Not bad execution. It is great execution on the offensive side. And great managing knowing he will walk players and protecting/changing the line up around to counter act it

I intentionally walk kickers too but it is tough to do when there are 8 line drive kickers coming up in a row. Everyone manages different. Not knocking on his coaching skills at all.Just saying that time he may have walked too many in my opinion. As far as he goes as a coach I think he is a great coach. He gets his team together for team dinners, rents out houses at tournaments and has scavenger hunts and stuff. Which are great ways to brinig a team together. But there is a difference between off the field coaching and planning and having to manage a game and make decisions in a split second. His decision making may sometimes be rushed because he is on the mound as the pitcher/manager at the same time.

As far as the girls go, I'm not really sure how you could come up with a logical explanation as to why the Meatball girls are hands down better than the girls from Fully Loaded. Personally I find that statement to be laughable.

And when it comes to walking people, only once has it not worked out the way I wanted and that was because one of our fielders made an error on a routine play. Yes, when it comes to the Meatballs, it's a lot harder to avoid players by walking them because you have so many weapons, but I'm also not sure that has anything to do with coaching...it just means you have a shit ton of talented players.

Either way, I am by no means a perfect coach and I have made plenty of mistakes.

Of course Im gonna say ours are better.

When I judge a girl i factor in certain things. I dont care how well they play against shitty teams. Means nothing. I just look at how good they are in clutch games. Like for us when we play fl,jki,bd or a tournament. Do they pop up,foul out,get the bunt down, can they kick?. How good are their hands? And I beleive right now that 3 of our 4 girls out there are as good as they get. They can bunt, kick and catch. And they are the easiest group of girls to manage ever with no attitude about playing time or batting order. This is why my girls are the best

Yeah i'm NOT saying the FL girls are bad. They are all good. I just think as a whole we have the edge. Only reason I even mentioned it was cause i was responding to the tale of the tape.

Oh i know we have different coaching styles and that makes it more fun.

And your 3 of 4 girls are definitely top notch, but so are my 4 of 4 lol
It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

All 6 of my girls are good. Just saying 3 of them are some the BEST when you break it down to if they can KIck,bunt and catch. And having a great attitude without being a pain in my ass. I highly doubt you have 4 that have all four of those qualities

We'll see..

I did forget about the Founders Cup KC victory for the Meatballs and the two games in Boynton Beach that the Meatballs won. I seem to just remember when I scored the go ahead run for FL last Beach season in the 6-4 win!! haha.

And that WAS a game where the walking worked out because we were not as deep. I think he walked Chaz twice and me twice with runners in scoring postion.

I can tell you every play from every game we lost or anytime that i messed up. But i never remember details clearly of wins.

The boards have been pretty boring. Occasionally though you'll find a gem. I've been enjoying Meatball Kevin's attempted rape of Edge.

Yeah, I had to get a restraining order.
