[Rule #5: Ur an idiot]

In a borderline weak attempt to start some chatter for the upcoming fall season...(Gards hopefully we can revive this, you made valid attempts this summer but it seems everyone just didn't give a shit or they forgot where the link was. I blame Ducey since he was the "President."

I guess first who is who on these new teams I see, I know some:

Buck Nasty's Player Haters
Captains: Jody and myself
notables: Scott, Adam L., Lucy, Tara G., Eric B., Daniel W., Tim Kreuger, Greg Hansel, and some other Rivercity people.

30 Seconds to Bars
Captains: Gards and Gumby
notables: Steely Dan and some defective Baggers, Kelly M, a few Enfuegos, not sure who else. I saw a meager attempt to get Wholesome Olsen back but not sure if it was successful.

Brocery Bags
Captains: Anne Frank and Duce?
notables: Crazy Nicole and that guy with the chia pet head, little Hercules, the new kid who I still don't remember his name..don't remember any others.

KIOS
Captains: Leah and Josh?
notables: no clue, half of them left due to E-Patt's wiffleball team, which should cut the squad down to 20.

Colonel Angus
Captains: Boxey
notables: Everyone's favorite bleach blonde, Laura Teater, Sean B, DJ SkribbleKane, Nami, don't remember who else she said.

notables: Farmer, the newly engaged Robyn (congrats! exciting!), that sasquatch guy, Katie L, and whoever else from last year I guess. Note-Nate the ginger with broken noodles is still not returning due to a 17 year shoulder injury from Peewee football.

I'm brand new to this, haven't played kickball but maybe once in 10+ years. As far as I know, I haven't been assigned to a team. Saw the ad on Facebook and thought it sounded fun.

David and Lydia Parent, 3 other handjobs at the Y, 2 summer baggers, 2 baggers from last fall + one's girlfriend that just moved in town, Marron, Milne, Sylvestro, Jeff Smith, Marks, Kasoff, one random somehow joined our team... and Windmuller.

Three Kicks Mafia. Captain - Steve Rosegger. It's is a bunch of Capital One new hires from February/July... + two girls that Mel M. convinced them to take on. The second coming of Baggers, or third coming of Ligers??? They can only hope. I'm sure they'll be worse than BB was last fall, though.

I'm trying to get 30STB more focused on the boombox and alcohol than on getting the W week in and week out, so when you inevitably still lose to us... feel bad about your life.

It's always nice to play the "we are just here to have fun" card before you get beat. Somehow I don't think there are many people focusing on the kickball instead of the drinking and fun there Garda but if it makes you feel better then advertise how fun you guys are all you want. Actually..now that I think about it, I might want to do that as well..

I'm sure you don't know where I'm going with it. It's okay. Just hang out with Old Balls a little bit more and you'll figure it out.

The game between 30STB and BB will either be the best game to ref... or the worst. I think the level of animosity will die down between now and then, but nonetheless I'll be aiming to win that one. I won't expect skill or sobriety from my team... but I might need to only have 1 Blast/Four Loko/Joose that week before the game starts, to give myself a competitive advantage.

As far as leaving goes, I saw a chance and I went for it. Steele was thinking about taking the season off, Steele Peters was falling apart... I couldn't have that. I figured it would be easy to get enough people together to form our own team, and now we almost have too many. I'd love to see some Brocery Bag mixing and matching throughout the league, because at the end of the day BB will always have enough people. Anne Frank/Little Hercules (probably the least likely to vacate) can make enough Capital One friends and keep bringing in new ones to fill spots vacated by the leavers. With Three Kicks Mafia doing the same... this league could start growing. Gotta replace Feathers and Jody for when they pass away in the next few years, anyway.

Between Sean, Austin, Ducey, Schwenk'n'Wenck, BB's fielding is going to be as impressive as it was at the end of Spring. It's not like they're losing much with me leaving. I'll put $50 right now on BB winning their first playoff game this season.

You say pessimistic, I say realistic..difference in opinion I guess. We won after a couple of miscues from Steele Peters in extra innings. I was very pleased with the victory but if they play mediocre the last inning then they win..Was I being Pessimistic? Maybe. Realistic? Absolutely.

You're basing that realism on... what, exactly? Our previous head-to-head matchup? We got run ruled in 3 bear costumes and a car fashioned out of a TV box. So it can't be that. Record? It's the playoffs. Record goes out the window... and you know as well as the rest of us that we were a top 4 team the last 5 games of the season or so, after tying the Ligers (fuck 'em, by the way. You happy now, Whit?) and killing everyone else. It can't be record... so you really just think that, based on our next few batters in the lineup, that you can say (and I believe this is close to word for word) "fuck, we lose. our bad part of our lineup is coming up. There's no chance we win, now." Really? It was the beginning of the top of the inning, and even if we had a bad section of our lineup coming up, we still had someone on 2nd base and they had 8 in the field. Pretty sure we can get at least a run and make them earn theirs - and we did. So either you based that inning's projection on our lineup, or you actually just thought we were going to lose. Either way, seems a bit pessimistic to me. I'd actually be willing to say you were being realistic if you had said ANY percentage other than "there's no chance we win". Obviously there was a chance. We won. Sounds like you're defining pessimism with that one. If you still disagree, then lack of confidence. Which is worse?

Whit, where you been these fast few posts? I expected you to be stoking the fire, not just watching the house burn down. I guess it's probably just as fun for you either way, at this point.

Your brain really went wild when it decided to remember this one big guy. I said to myself under my breath "we're fucked" after there was one out and you happened to be standing next to me and started flipping out. I was the sober one remember (too hungover to even pregame the playoffs) so I'm gonna go ahead and trust my memory of it over yours.

It was based on the fact that while we were no doubt a solid team, they were better. Luckily they had several bad plays in a row so it didn't matter and we were able to pull out the W. It may be tough to understand but I can tell which teams are more skilled than ours and they happened to be one of those teams. And again I made a comment to myself under my breath which is far from the fake sentence you quoted me as saying above. I understand though, it's tough to defend what you say when you are drunk especially when you are yelling and causing a scene due to someones opinion they state to themselves so you might as well make that statement sound much grander than it actually was. This argument is boring me now so I will no longer be replying but I may want to get a home stenographer to take care of these things in the future.

Sorry Gards, I was totally corpse-stiff bored as Box so eloquently put it earlier today, but then got engulfed in playing White Goodman for the past few hours. Nonetheless i have enjoyed watching you two poke at each other's assholes about last season.

I'll add my 2 cents bc I suck and that's what I do.
Both of your arguments are spoken out of frustration in a game. Been there done that. Luke and myself have been down this road a thousand times. Luke was a good leader in the fact he made our not so good players play unexpectedly well sometimes. I have gotten frustrated with my teammates and said shit i regretted but I got much better with that in seasons past which my former teammates can attest to. In the end they knew I had their back 150% and that anything I said was full of shit and I never meant itanyways.
Duce got frustrated with lack of talent in their lineup. Is it right? No, its not. And it can definitely hurt feelings. But it happens, he wanted to win. If he says otherwise he is lying. Gards, you defend your teammates which shows good leadership, but people get caught up in the moment and you can't tell me that 90% of people in this league don't want or enjoy winning including yourself. There is a fine line with the whole wanting to have fun and win at the same time and it can get twisted very quickly bc most everyone is competitive to a certain degree, except McLovin, Boxey, and KIOS as a whole. I think they just like wearing vests and banging in bathrooms, going international, and rocking out to sandstorm 24/7. (too soon? Boxey started it)
In the end shit like that happens. I will say Duce your team was better than you think. Kickball is like football. Any given Sunday. A few errors makes or break you and I will say when you played us you guys kicked balls like you were Manchester United, no matter how hard I pitched against you. Sometimes your weakest links shine in this game, which makes it fun. I know we had quiet storms who killed it in playoffs that didn't do shit during the season. The bags have it too. Doesn't mean I am not gonna tell them they are a bunch of penispumps as they and you all will do to me. So, you two sissys continue your bickering, bc that is the EXACT type of game I enjoy reffing. I don't disagree with any of this. I think Brocery Bags will be better this Fall than they were in the Spring. I'm excited to see the Player Haters / Brocery Bags finals in the playoffs. I also know there's one game I REALLY want to win (I'd like to win all of them, of course, but there's one I'll consider being sober for) and you should probably want to ref it. I like to think that nothing said or done on this forum should be taken seriously off the internet, and that got a bit out of hand earlier. I'm over it, and looking forward to going back to the kind of shit talk that only hurts Jody's feelings. Poor old guy.

Fuck no its not gay. I catch about as many compliments from any of you guys as Anne catches kickballs. Very few and far between. Now, I am sure everyone else will say it is but they can go fuck themselves.

All in all, i would say everyone agrees with most of what i said to a certain degree. We all bicker, bitch, get sandy sleeves from time to time, play hard and competitive even though we bark up and down we just wanna have fun, etc, etc, etc (again minus the bathroom bandit, the UN, and Team Darude). In the end we all go to the bar afterwards and get slammerfaced and forget about whatever happened or was said. Even people that hated my guts during a game realized i was a decent person after we had a few cold ones. Shocker i know.
As far as this board goes, if anyone ever takes anything to offense they are idiots. Pure and simple. Sure lines can be crossed every so often but its just a fuckin messageboard used to take jabs at each other. If i got upset about every post sent in my direction i would have taken a leap off the nickel bridge years ago. Duce, i would say take it as constructive criticism as Luke has given to me in the past. Old teammates have surprised me in tons of games we have played. Your team has done the same. Burning some bridges with the bags and now duking it out with a team you haven't even played with yet. Good work. Should be an epic season for you full of "just having fun." Don't get me wrong, I will be the last person to knock your latest rants of winning as you subtly drift away from the "lets just have fun" mentality. To me winning is fun, but that's just me, and pretty much the entire group of Buck Nasty.
As far as you backing it up, I would say you have had your moments. You had a good game against us and sounds like the playoffs went ok for you as well. I won't take any of that away from you. As far as your new squad, I am sure you guys will be good. As you expressed earlier people would be stupid to bunt to Petros or Steele but how well will you cover the rest of the field? You gonna go for the slow roll pitch again or actually dig a pitcher out of the woodwork, maybe chiapet? Not sure how well that will fair against any team that actually understands place kicking. We'll see I guess. I will say I have never seen anyone as excited about a team as you are this fall. Hopefully it pans out well for you.

I'm pretty sure Kelly and I will be alright after a few squabbles here and there. There's nothing wrong with her being wrong, and she'll learn it.

Steele or I will probably be pitching most of the time. I haven't done it other than in practice, WAKA style, but I think I had it figured out at the end of Spring. The other of us will probably be playing 3rd/C along with Petros - Until we learn that a few of the guys on our team are better than us (Kasoff, etc.), at which point we'll just rotate out and figure out what works best. I hope Scottie puts us against Three Kicks Mafia first so we get a true practice game week 1.

I'm upset that you consider this me going away from being all about having fun. At this point, all you need to know is that the team will be giving 110% every play, and when we fuck up, we won't be upset with each other. We'll just pick our heads up and give 109.99% the next play. What's more fun than having the support of 9 other players + a random person holding a boombox? Oh yeah, we've decided our 11th position will be in charge of music as well. None of that will keep us from being a good team. If anything, it will make us a great team. Except the boombox thing. That will probably detract from our skill...

We certainly sabotaged his... though some may have found it even more entertaining. Klug-a-lug and Steely Dan had an 8-hour dance-off that everyone but Jen was smart enough to not try to judge... they knocked over one of the Tiki torches right next to the fence. Don't worry, it didn't go up in flames. Hopefully some of the more sober members of 30STB managed to fun the place up a bit.

That's who I've always been, really - I coached JV boys' soccer in college, which is about the equivalent of girls' basketball, as far as the amount of skill you need to have to coach it, as well as the credibility of the game. I think they get about the same number of fans at each game too... not to mention how big a creep coaches usually are. You're welcome for the reload of anti-Garda ammunition.
