Liberty is Back! But it's just not the same.

Postby PittsBurgheR » September 14th, 2011, 1:04 pm

The Usual suspects...
The Pitch Set Me Up - Last season's champ. The planets, moon, and even Jesus H.C. aligned to make this happen. This team went through the #1 Recess Raiders & #2 Inglorious Blags to capture the Liberty Cup. Can they do it again? I highly doubt it. After finally finishing on top, many vets, and the major A-list players of this team hung it up before they could show a championship hangover.

Inglorious Blaguards Always the bridesmaid... again. This time to a team ranked significantly lower than them. They just never have the depth to go all the way. Will this be the year they finally take home the cup so that former Visor of Fury turned Truckerhat of Understanding, Sparky, Pepper, and Ruby can retire? They picked up some new blood from the now defunct Threat Level:Dummy, in which case they now have a few better ladies than they are used to, but they've also gained some personality problems in this pickup. Will the Visor have to reemerge once more to keep the new guys in check, or will this team again fizzle at the end? Only time will tell if Stefan can lead the lead the division again in onbase % & alleged blunts smoked.

Never Nudes With last season's retirement of Grover, and this season's retirement of Rivkin, NN becomes the composite of several teams. Below Me, Recess Raiders, E=MC Hammered, & yes, even Awesome-O, combined their best, or at least their available, or in Awesome's case their most tolerable players to create a team that has some good speed, some good D, some good O, and at least people you don't hate to play. This team could end up being the #1 this season. Look for them to play well once they figure out their lineup.

Das Boot The kids in red return from having a breakout spring season. Their infield surprised everyone, and they added some nice pickups from other divisions. They've got some speed, some bigger legs, and made a significant upgrade to their outfield. This team has the toughest schedule of anyone, which will make the first half of their season dreadful, but they're always known to be having fun, and can still hang or steamroll anyone depending on the day.

Sloppy MotionKickball Carrie posted several FB status' about upgrading her team, yet still took any warm (or cold) body who would register. She returns vets who are ok, one large Viking at 1B, and a few players who are tired of being the speed bump. We'll see after week 2 if SM is able to play, or just the friendly kids in green swarming the bar.

The returning "vets".
Bad Case of the Runs Just because they'returning, doesnt mean they've learned anything. This team advertised being a "fun" team, but only had a few people at the bar. Guess being whipped in kickball & flipcup wasn't fun for the majority of the team.

Rhythm & Booze Andy "Biased Media" Festa makes his return to Marie Reed field! He brings several vets from Rhythm Method, and several new faces. Don't be fooled by the short blonde girl he has playing. It's his sister, and don't kick it near her. She'll catch anything within 20 feet of her. Still to be decided is if they even have a charger this season. Word on the street is that most of the players who started to grasp this game moved away due to jobs & med school. Well, at least you know that you can beat them on the kickball field, but this team full of medical pros and & researchers has already beaten you in the game of life. Be nice to them as you run the score, they'll probably have to cure your cancer someday.

The new class. Not much is known about these teams other than one is a transplant from DC Capital, another is from (a very weak) DC Rock Creek, and the third is PDuncs All-Star friends using the division as a warmup for FC/CC.

Armed and Hammered Correction, this is BSB, or Off in the Park from Capital, whichever you prefer to call them. So they'll be good, and take themselves more seriously that the OtherShotBasturds. At least Pdunc's guys are fun to play against.

Balls to the Wall This is possibly the Rock Creek team. check back after week 1.

FirstPlaceOnYourFace <---- See note about PDuncs team. They're bringing a mess of iB, OSC, and others. Just don't kick it high and lofty, and dont bunt it short and you'll be ok. This team will be good but not unbeatable as we've seen from tournament tapes.

Kicker? I Barely Know Her! Dont know em at all.

Pillow Pants Just the name implies this team is full of ladies. Not a bad thing for the bar, only for the field.

Purple Haze They'll love Stefan if they're into hallucinogens.

Where the Pitches At? Where were they at for the meet n greet?

I anticipate FPOYF rolling over the competition. We got the band back together for this one.

I dont know if rolling is the word I'd use. You'll do well, but you'll most certainly have a few tough games.

I would hope so. That's one of the main reasons I'm coming back to play on the fields of glass and syringes. You usually get one competitive game in DC Capital or any other league. Having a couple more competitive games would be awesome in my book.

Don't forget to get your tetanus shots updated if you haven't already!!!!

This should be a better season for Liberty. Unfortunately with Below Me, Awesome-O, & E=MC gone, it may not be much better than one or two games. These teams were finally getting good. Below Me could have been a really good team until Grover retired leaving Katie to run it & Awesome-O, though a bag-a-douche personality wise, was getting to be a good team as well.

DCKO presents a slightly bigger challenge than DC Liberty... That's not an unbeatable team, but I also don't see them losing.

I'm sure of that. But there is talent and decent teams in Liberty that will make it tougher than they think on them. The first problem Pdunc has is getting everyone to show up for games.

Purple Haze has the same captain from Capital's In the Pink. In fact, they were called "In the Pink" until they realized that Inglorious Blaguards held claim to that color. You can't be called "In the Pink" with a purple shirt. Same team? Maybe.

R&B: This will be the first time I'm captaining a team that's not Balls of Glory, or an Capital All-Star game. We'll see how I do without my usual BOG stars, and how steep that learning curve is.

All of the old-school MD Fire teams are gone (I think). So if HTKC makes it triumphant return to Bethesda, nobody will recognize us!

Since my office moved to Rockville, I was thinking of registering for the next MD (whatever) whether its Fire or Bethesda, since both play the same night, in the same place. The CSR is Kate, she was on the black team when we played on HTKC there.

Anyone wanna get together to play wednesday next season?
