Below is a hilarious e-mail from the Denver GoKickball Coordinator (Ryan) about and to our Captain after the teams he captained finished 1st and 2nd (Dice. Tuesdays and Dice. Thursdays) in Sunday's 32-team Fall Colorado State Championship Tournament:
"Seriously dude, you have issues. Asking me to tell how much a ball was a ball on your pitches? You wonder why all of other teams hated you guys? Cause you are WAY over the top. Keeping track of the stats the way you do that NOBODY anywhere else does or cares? You single-handedly kill everything fun about what we do.... Yes, competition is good... but you are being "that guy". And honestly I think you're probably a good dude outside of kickball. Not trying to be mean, here, but jesus! Honestly, if both of your teams want to go to WAKA or whomever next season, that is perfectly fine by us."

We're not gonna let this clown rain on our memorable 2011! We won over 100 games, went over 500 Facebook fans, earned 15 season and tournament championships and donated $1,885.00 to awesome and deserving charities here in Colorado! Nothing like the MEATBALLS' 2011 but we're proud to be the big fish in the small pond that is Colorado kickball. At the end of the day, we had a blast playing w/ one another and will remember the friendships we made and solidified via our kickball in 3, 5, 10, 25 years from now!

We've touched base with them and hope to come together on the fields come Spring 2012!

The Shower Hammers are really reaching out to other states. 2 Denver players (which I am guessing move away from NYC to Denver) and they just picked up Kamboobox for next year! NYSH taking over PA's # 2 spot behind MB in 2012.

I will be heading up to Denver in February. Any recommendations on where to stay, what places to go see, what breweries/bars to visit?
Note: I already have a place lined up for 3 nights while I hit the mountains. I just want to spend the weekend in Denver (guessing downtown area) since I have never been.
Thanks

Stay as close to the 16th Street Mall and the hub of the bars - next to the Rockies' Coors Field on 20th & Market. No particular bar recommendations as there are literally 30-40 within 5 blocks of that intersection. Hit me (Mr. Dice. Kickball) up as the dates come closer and I'll go snag some drinks with you. Holler.

thanks for the tips. I will definitely have to as close to the 16th street mall. So I take it most bars/breweries are near 20th & market.
Note to self, find hotel near that intersection.

I know how you feel. We were a big fish in a small pond for a long time. Our team was way ahead of the curve and flat out dominating for a long time and we were universally hated. Many teams have caught up at this point and it's very competitive to the point that we aren't looked at as the league assholes who try too much. We've been accused of not having fun so many times I can't count them. The only problem is that we were always having fun.
We've been boo'd by entire stands full of spectators at tournaments, told we were not allowed back, and berated at bars by people who think we're "too serious." All of these things were 100% unprovoked on our part as we've never once gone out of the way to humiliate any team nor have we ever done anything after a game to disrespect another team.
Rest assured, though - It won't last forever. At some point another team will rise to your level and take over the most hated spot simply because they're thew new guys who "take it too serious."
We've also had our share of humblings at the hands of teams like PA, MB, LIU, and Dumpster Fire when they were around. Not once did we ever think they were too serious. We always walked away trying to figure out how we could be more like them, instead of wanting to be less like them.

This is the underhand pitching league?

yeah, go kickball is underhand with the pitcher being able to charge before the kick. Is this just for Denver or do the other go kickball leagues also now have this rule?
