General WAKA Discussions

Postby Zak » April 1st, 2012, 5:24 pm

The game started Friday morning, 54 hours latter it ended. All in all 345 innings of kickball were played, 281 runs were scored, and over $40,000 was raised for kick-it.org Shout out to Phil "YourPenis" Provencher and the rest of the players who are now in Guinness Book of World Records.

Great job everyone. Zak can you put something together to beat that? Are kegs allowed? I'm thinking 80 hours of sloshball.

Might as well just save some time and do that one at a graveyard.
To Pullout or not to Pullout. That is the question.

How would a 354 inning look between 2 elite teams?

How many innings? According to my calculations it would average out to about 2.3 -1.7 score with 5 inning games and 3.1 to 2 in a 6 inning game

If NYCGN 2010's Event Manager had changed the rules in OT, Meatballs and Panik probably would have hit 354+ innings. The score would have ended 6-5, Panik Attack.

So while it may have been the world's longest kickball game, according to the Huffington Post it did not have the most innings nor did it have the most runs scored. While it did break the 51 hour record held by students at Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio, that game went 474 innings with a final score of 431-306.

You would think the time per inning and runs scored would be directly proportional.

This is accurate. Rebecca has always told me "it's not about who lasts the longest, it's who performs the best...for the longest!"

I've found personally that high scoring games tend to go faster than games where you're grinding it out with an evenly matched opponent. Example, the final score of SKG 4 and WR 3 from pool play only lasted 4 innings and was called on time. WR vs Ginger Balls the amount of runs scored was doubled with time left to have played out another inning or two

Thanks Zak.
This was a life changing experience. It was amazing in so many ways.
I was joined by some Angry Penguins. Brad, Kenny, Jon and Aaron. There were also some CT Circuit peeps from Elm City Wolfpack. Kyle, Dominique, Mike, Lauren and anyone I missed.

Saw a lot of familiar faces over the course of the game with people helping out.
Ad-Rock (LIU), Sarah (Relax and Let it Happen), Maggie (former NYSH), Chad "Kaboombox (NYSH) along with Wolfie (NYSH). Rick Darm - everyone's favorite kilt wearing ref. I had the chance to meet Art Doweyko (former Meatball I believe).

says the WAKA CSR. HAHAHA! I love it.

Trey it Up wrote:164-117. Both defenses were terrible!

My response would be to refer to the back of the Flying V jerseys.
This game was not about competition. It was based off of raising $$ for an excellent charity.
What made it more "real" too was that the 2 teams were named after 2 children who beat childhood cancer.
Sammy and Juliana.
They were there. Delia (Sammy's mom) was actually on my team and Tim (Juliana's dad) was DJ'ing a large portion of it.
The teams had experienced athletes and people who haven't played since they were kids probably (or anything else that involved exercise).
It wasn't the most amazing teams. It was 2 teams that joined together to do this for a good cause. If you can picture a game that lasted 54 hours with NO arguments...well no real arguments that didn't end up with a slap on the ass or me wrestling Lauren to the ground and proceeding to hump her while wearing a Giant rat costume.

It was a WAKA sanctioned event but that was just logistics. I wasn't doing it for WAKA. I did it cuz it sounded fun, crazy and for a great cause.
I WOULD highly recommend more Circuit Players to be involved in something like this.
Believe me, the thought of stronger fielders came into my mind plenty of times.
There were about 10 of us that at any given time were actually going balls out playing by some freak of nature. We found our 50th winds in the last hours and played pretty hard when we were actually tying and breaking the record time.

Now, it's time to edit 54 hours of footage...
Fuck that!

Please note that I never said anything bad in response to you. I simply told you to look at the nice Atlanta teams jerseys.

I'm just glad I didn't tear any major muscle groups while playing (or anyone else).
And WHY THE HELL was I at 3rd charging at 6 AM at hour 40-whatever?

You're confusing me Zak.
That would imply that he wasn't grumpy the rest of the time. LOL

Kyle was a trooper.
Dominique is Circuit fast and was running it out pretty hard.
Until he Bonked. Hahaha.
All I have to say is that some of the people playing should've been embarrassed that a 37 year old (me) was showing them up with only 2 hours of sleep.
Even Kenny on the Penguins (you may know him from such activities as naked Chinese Fire Drill OR rubbing his nipple in a Penguin suit) who's a rager hit a brick wall at one point and turned into Dr. Pissy Pants.

I think that was also somewhere around 3am Friday/Saturday, when we were told that the music is too loud and people are trying to sleep.
Of course, during your first long break, Maggie and I were a little nervous to sleep, in case we didn't get ourselves up in time to re-start the game, nevermind you all. Thankfully, Zak called around then and he kept us entertained while we were waiting. (Sorry for never calling you, Lurker!)

It was really amazing to be part of this, and even though I was only able to be there from 11:30pm on Friday to 7:30am on Saturday, and then again for a little it on Sunday, I'm glad I made it. So many of my favorite kickballers came out to support these awesome people.

Phil, Enjoy the 54 hours of footage. I am pretty sure there are some interesting conversations that were caught on tape. Also, I think LV will miss your humping. ;)
