San Diego is Spanish for Awesome Kickball Tournament

I'd love to get an idea of who is thinking about coming to San Diego on July 7th for the Inaugural SDKO Tournament. The Ultimate Rec team is super pumped to spend some time with our West Cost friends, and I could use a little help from the message board getting a rough head count.

If you are considering going, please respond below or send me a PM. It would also be super helpful to know if you are going to do either of the following:

1. Rent a Car
2. Stay at the Hotel Friday and Saturday
3. Stay at the Hotel Thursday or Sunday

We are playing at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center and look to be staying at the Marriott for $129 (two queen beds). I'll provide the hotel information next week along with a few more details. We have enough room for 15 teams, but can expand to more field space if needed. So if you are going to go, I recommend being one of the first 15 teams just in case we cap it.

Unfortunately, a lot of the teams that told me they were coming aren't big on the MB. Last I heard Ginger Balls were interested, Dragon Army is coming, and hopefully Whiskey Richard (confirm?). I'd hope for the other AZ teams as well, since it's closer than LA (and more awesome).

Looks like we're taking the same route as Relax this year - play in a few local tourneys and New Orleans will be a gametime decision. I couldn't get enough players committed for CC yet, so we did not register/forfeited our BOTW circuit points. Ah well...

I couldn't get enough players committed for CC yet, so we did not register/forfeited our BOTW circuit points.

Yeah we were in the same boat. It's hard to get solid commits from a full squad on this so far out. I ended up just risking it. If we don't end up going, maybe I'll try to get my players to each buy me a beer to recoup my $.

Does San Diego still ban drinking on the beach? That was supposed to be a one year test run but I don't remember if the city made it permanent.

Fourth of July here is an absolute blast, at least it used to be when you could drink on the beach.

Yes, unfortunately, and they police it pretty strongly. I'm not positive of the exact amount, but I think the tickets (I've seen cops issue a lot of them) are in the $250 ballpark...not worth it. There was a park down in PB (Kate Sessions) where we used to play a lot of sloshball and drunk slip n slide (huge hill), but they banned drinking there last year The man!!

We do have about 20 bars that are within 5 blocks of the water that offer bottomless momo's on the Sabbath where you can play the Mimosa Game, however. Sunday is a wonderful day in the Whale's Vag.
