Oh yeah - I also wanted to thank the 7 experts to whom if it wasn't for them, this poll wouldn't be possible.

(Well technically I would have found 7 other people but the poll would be less-expertly)

Apparently the people who voted for What Happened? didn't know that they were on the lucky side of a bad call which allowed them to win against WR

Come on now. Those dudes were good. I watched them play JKI tough, and played them after that and they were again tough. And if Whiskey Richard allowed the game to be close enough where one bad call lost it for them, then I'd say they hung in there too.

Every one played JKI tough. If a 1-3 team from that pool should get ranked, it should be Cleverly Disguised as Responsible Adults who didn't need a ref to miss a call to be WR.

I disagree. I played What a Happened? and Cleverly Disguised back to back and it was clear which one was better.

Yet Cleverly Disguised scored more runs on JKID, Fully Loaded, and Whiskey and had a better run differential on the day. Both teams played JKID to 1 run. If you look at who both teams played the only measurable difference was how they played against WR.

All valid points. Im just basing what I was saying off which team was tougher or felt tougher to beat. Maybe What Happened had a great game against us and made it feel like they were better.

What happened to Whiskey Richard in this tourney? Not trolling just curious how a seemingly up and coming team went 0-4?

Yeah about that.....we did not adjust to the wind fast enough. Then we tried to kick home runs to hard. Some people adjusted just at the wrong times. Eh it happens and we learn from it.

Played awful. Missed our two best players who happened to be the charger and first baseman. They are also our lead off and #5 kicker. Also missing our second pitcher who is our #3 kicker. Took a lot of our offense away. Also struggled with the wind. Had a ton of balls get smoked into the outfield that took huge bounces. I will also admit that I played pretty hung over and even though I didn't get out all day, I also didn't pitch my best either. I fatigued pretty quickly. Also probably threw about 100 balls in each game with how many runs were given up. All in all, I have to say I am pretty embarrassed about the performance. Our subs are good players but they just didn't fit into our scheme as well. :violin:

I thought wind was only a factor against certain other teams (who all remain nameless).

Definitely fair. What Happened's Catcher used to be on the Teabaggers, but created his own team for this event. I watched them play and they were decent but other than their pitcher and catcher there wasn't much there.

In Austin, I umped the following 8 games and wasn't able to watch even one play of any other teams:

Flying V (7) vs. Teabags of Shame (0)
Flying V (2) vs. Cobra Kai (2)
Flying V (4) vs. Lights Out! (3)
Flying V (7) vs. I'd Hit It (1)
Lights Out! (3) vs. Teabags of Shame (2)
New York Shower Hammers (4) vs. Best Fwiends (2)
New York Shower Hammers (1) vs. JKI Deep (0)
New York Shower Hammers (5) vs. Cobra Kai (3)

I'd rank these 8 teams based upon thier play that day that I saw:

1. New York Shower Hammers
-
2. JKI Deep
-
3a. Best Fwiends
3b. Cobra Kai
5. Flying V
6. Lights Out!
-
7. Teabags of Shame
8. I'd Hit It

I'm sorry poll people... Teabags of Shame should be right below Lights Out. And should have beaten them (albeit for our own stupidity). And What Happened should absolutely not be ranked higher than us. I can't speak on the other teams however.

That was the work of a bitter person who's team got their asses kicked on the field by Walk of Shame. She had no other method of retaliation so she decided to grade my GMOT entry.

In the adult kickball world she still lost. However, when it's time for me to take a composition and rhetoric course, I'll be sure to pay her 20 bucks to do my assignments. Thanks for noticing her hard, but ultimately useless, work.

I thought that grammatical writeup was clever. My thoughts: If you're not going to be good at kickball or flipcup, you best better be witty, clever, and funny with your writeups.

Wow.. It's amazing how much that mirrors real life.

Right but if your way of getting back at someone for beating you on the field is to say.... "Yeah, but look I know what an ellipsis is", well then I've lost all competitive regard for you. What she should say is, "Maybe next time my hipster friends will bunt better and take off our tight ass daisy dukes while playing kickball so we will kick your ass."

These are just my thoughts though, of course. :)

Now I *really* won't ever ref a game in Austin ever again ... :o

not at all, my reply was simply that if she doesn't know that a comment was made, then it probably would be her last word at least for those who don't read the TX Capital Blog.

Seems like a hipsterish thing to do. Do your talking on the field, and if you can't, at least do your talking on the flip cup table at the bar. Don't do your talking on Microsoft Word. Lame.

Oof. I would never let that post on my GMOT blog to begin with. Not because it's full of errors (who gives a shit?) but because the tone is all wrong... How does the TX Capital blog work? Anyone can post to it? Or just 1 person per team? Are they not edited?

We are quite vicious on the GMOT in TX Capital. But it's tongue in cheek. No brawls have broken out over the GMOT.... yet. The division is pretty tight knit, so it's not like we aren't actually all cool with each other or that I wouldn't hang out with them on my personal time. The person who proofread my write up is actually one of the funnier people I know. I like her a bunch. They beat us last season and talked some smack, so she had this one coming.

At the end of the day, friends, my writing and editing skills pay my bills, not kickball. Also, I don't hate myself enough to use Microsoft Word.

As ashamed as I am to create a forum account just to respond to this thread, I just wanted to say that I'm anxious to rectify that 2-1 "ass kicking" in our league playoffs in a few weeks.

I will leave you with the images I created to honor the Walks captain before our game against them 2 weeks ago.
