The summer league will be in full effect and I assure you, I'll be doing the recruiting for that from the start so there will be plenty of fun teams. As for this Spring, I'd like to fill out the fourth team so the other three teams that stuck with this aren't forced to play each other each week.
Anyone out there able to help us get started?

I for one hate that this place as become Circuit365. I liked it better when the local leagues drove the membership of the message board. But maybe that's just me.

Will0857 wrote:speaking of Circuit, those of you that were at the Sportsplex on Sunday, do you think it would be big enough to hold the VBKO? On of the other captains mentioned it to the guy at the plex and he seemed intrigued about that being used as a possible destination for the tournament. He has that field we played on, plus the field hockey turf which is the same size on the compound at his exposure. i could see those two spots holding maybe 6 games at a time. would that be enough? I've not played the circuit tourneys before so i'm not sure of their logistics

Lastly, the sportsplex league is laid back and should have a chance to take off if promoted effectively in future seasons. Great fields and the fact that you can go straight from the fields to the "after-party" is a bonus.

I would see if the guy has access to the non-turf fields that they use for the PAAC leagues. Those were very nice grass fields. If you combine both those sets of fields, you definitely would have enough space. They are right across the street from the Sportsplex.

About a month ago, I (the newly appointed commissioner) was told we'd have 5-6 teams and that our start date would be last week (Sunday, April 29). So I make up the schedule, put together a sweet package and low and behold, Sunday comes around and we have 3 teams and a couple free agents. Needless to say, those free agents were rightly upset and we went into scramble mode. Not the end of the world but certainly a set back.
To fix this, I need 10-12 people in the 757 area that are willing to play on Sunday afternoon's at the turf facility. I will gladly discount your registration fee.
The league plays for the Commissioner's Cup which is a trophy awarded to the team who demonstrates the most well rounded social sports prowess. Each week, teams will compete in kickball, cornhole, and flip cup. The winner of each match will receive a point. At the end of the season, the team with the most total points will be awarded the Commissioner's Cup and have the right to claim they are the Best Social Sports Team in Hampton Roads. you play the same team in all three events on a given week (potential for 3 points per week). In addition to the Commissioner's Cup, we play in a stadium facility that allows us to use their Jumbo-Tron for pictures or just plain watching ESPN. They play music through the loud speakers and after each week, offer food and beer for a super low cost.
I know this is super late to be recruiting and everyone probably is already registered for a Spring sport. Unfortunately, those are run by the City whereas the Sportsplex is run by a private entity (tax payer subsidized of course). However, he has a field for the US Field Hockey team that is located right behind that party pit we did flip cup and corn hole in. same dimensions, actually nicer turf on those. so he has quite a bit of field space. I can take you through that facility on Sunday and you can give me your thoughts then.
Although I do agree with you, the princess anne softball fields and the rest of their facilities are very, very nice natural grass surfaces.
