In an underhand pitch "gentleman's rules" league, girls PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't take the first pitch or, worse, purposely foul off the first 2 mph non bouncing pitch right down the middle of the plate.

It is not "sneaky" or "crafty" and you aren't fooling anyone, all you are doing is making the game longer than it has to be.

I love women and Co-ed sports but the only thing that makes me angrier than this is when people drive in the passing lane on the highway

thank you for your time

Can we also amend this with allowing non-pitching Intentional Walks? Too many leagues with different "house rules" as to whether the pitches need to be thrown. Irritating. Esp. with a game that has a damn time limit.

(But, to be fair, Flades, it IS kinda funny watching somebody indignantly foul off the first two pitches, only to collect a couple more for an out....)

Why is the Great Bobby Flader playing in an underhand league?......and not beating golf balls on the driving range ?

I love it when a girl intentionally fouls off the first pitch when it comes in perfect and ends up fouling out.

The great bobby flades is essentially playing on mms waka version. I heard he was looking to transfer. Is this the demise of the meatballs?

No that would be weddings and babies

Big game this week against the undefeated juggernaut "Big Ballin Is Our Hobby" should be lots of first pitch foul offs in this one sports fans

This happened to me multiple times yesterday. Even their own teammates were giving them a hard time about it. "Yeah, Rachel!! That 2MPH roller right down the middle DEFINITELY wasn't for you! Wait for your pitch!"

She's just maximizing her time involved in the game.

For a standard 45 minute, 5-inning game, there are essentially 40 minutes of playable time (5 minutes total wasted in coming/going off the field after the innings. That's not counting the wasted time waiting for the whole team to show up and for your opponent to figure out how to play RPS and what "home" and "away" means... but I want to keep this a round number, so let's keep it at 40 minutes per game.)

So if you have 2 teams with 20-person rosters, each player gets 1 minute to play kickball as the kicker... of course, assuming the play takes 10 seconds to complete, they have 50 seconds to kick the ball. If you kick the first ball - and you don't play a skill position, you've paid $65+ to play in a game that only involved you for 10 seconds.

Are you an engineer? Cause this sounds exactly like the kind of over-analysis I frequently partake in.

Close. Software engineer turned project manager. I thought about this when I had my gf play for us this past week. She got 1 at bat, and was in the field twice that had no involvement on the play. When people asked her how her first adult kickball experience was, she could only really talk about her 10 seconds at bat.

which is exactly why i encourage people to hold practices and have team parties. you don't get your money's worth standing around watching the infield throw the ball around. unless you're one of the golden few deemed "good enough" to play an "important" position, it's a lot of picking daisies, watching the clouds go by, and trying to pay attention enough that when the stray ball DOES go your direction, you're awake enough to actually catch it, rather than watch it go by and get screamed at by the rest of your team.

we have a couple on our wednesday team that have never played before, though they've played a lot of other sports. i had asked one of them to watch the camera during one of our games while i was in the outfield. afterward he could be heard on camera chatting with someone nearby who asked how he was liking kickball so far. he said "eh, it's ok. it's pretty boring. it's a lot of standing around doing nothing."
