I poked fun at Pocket Nick the other day but I feel like this is a real issue. I, like Nick and others, am always forced to go away from the tournament site to find a healthy option for lunch because all these food trucks ever have are pizza, burgers, tacos etc. I have absolutely no idea how people eat this stuff and come back and play.

Usually its not a big deal for our team because (up until now) we have the last "bye" before lunch which gives us 2 hours to find something decent to eat.

I noticed this Saturday that lunch break is smack in them middle of pool play (strange) and it is only 45 minutes long (also strange). What kind of food is going to be provided on-site Saturday?

I am basically an OCD freakshow so I don't know if anyone else is always worried about what to do for lunch. is it just me?

Nah doug I'm with you. I really can't eat much of anything. Maybe a granola bar or two. Once I eat a meal, I shut down.

At sfko woods ate a bratwurst covered with so much shit you could barely see the brat, and drank a 5 hour energy during our bye. My stomach hurt watching him eat it...After that he pitched a gem against NYSH. It was quite remarkable.

We always just bring food. I don't see how this is an issue and the last thing we need are longer breaks in between games.

I think this is the way to go. When I was doing 24 hour events on the bike, I'd bring an assortment of stuff to get me through the event without ever eating a "real meal".

yeah thinking this might be the way to go...would be nice to have an option to buy something healthy at the field but I know this is pretty far down the "to do" list for event managers. I can't imagine how hard their job is to begin with pulling off an event like this without having to worry about people with food OCD

NYSH always packs coolers with lunch meat and bread. We have one person do the grocery shopping for the team before tge tourney and pick up a shitload of water, Gatorade, pedialyte, and light snacks then split the cost between everyone. It's usually about $10/ player which to have all your beverage and food cost for the whole day is really cheap. Of we are at a tourney that we can't supply our own coolers we just buy a few styrofoam coolers and throw them away after the day.

from what i understand, there is a Publix in close proximity to the fields. i would recommend you stock up on any specifics you need for lunch, if you have meal preference. i will let jimmy post the info on the food truck because i can't remember what the name of it. they have a facebook page with their full menu.

On asphalt among the debris. Very similar to how I started playing as a kid. If you got it between the two single wides...it was always a home run.

was going to say something about how clearly blacktop/asphalt/concrete works just fine, as evidenced by the leagues in nyc, but then a wave of nausea swept over me at the thought of sliding on that stuff. *shudder*

won't you please think of the environment?

I agree with bringing food. I tend to provide a cooler for my team so they can put stuff in it. But I can't eat a burger with the sun that way. Usually i tend to bring PB&J, a loaf of bread, goldfish, & fruit. Well, then beer when we are allowed to have it onsite.

Can I wager $2000 of my Sedlak bucks on Meatball Kevins under?

This is the lunch menu:

Philly Steak or Chicken 8.00
Steak or Chicken with Cheese 7.00
Hot Dogs 2.00
Teriyaki Wings 6.00
Sports drinks/Water

I asked them to drop it down to about this many options for the sake of keeping the lines moving. Could you imagine how long it would take if they could not do any food prep because there were 15 different options?

Anyways, my apologies to those who prefer healthier options, but my original sandwich truck guys (actual healthier sandwiches) somehow triple-booked themselves for this date and were unable to accommodate.

There is a Publix right near the field, as well as right near the hotel on the way to the field. There are no subways or anything near this high school, as it's a new residential development area, so not a lot of businesses have made their way out yet.

Don't have time to read this whole thread due to work sucking me dry.

But. If I had a vote I'd have no lunch break. Bring snacks, some sandwich shit, some fruit, jerky etc and play it out and eat a steady stream of healthy snacks and water.

I hate lunch breaks.

It takes like 90 seconds to eat a cliff bar and a banana between each game.
