Rankings may be based on circuit points, but the actually pool draw could have been done many different ways. For instance, they could have snaked the teams (#2 gets #3 and #4, while #1 gets #5 and #6, etc...) into pools or went one by one.

If the standings mentioned in TBurkett's post are correct, it was a snake placement. MB received #5 CK and #6 MMS, while JKID received #3 FL and #4 FV and so on.

This is really all speculation on my part. I really think by this point in the season the circuit should favor teams that register and accumulate points first, which is why I have zero problems if we were ranked tenth in this tourney considering it's our first of the year.

You guys are over thinking this. It's pretty clear they just separated the two top Florida teams (Meatballs, JKID), the two 2nd tier Florida teams (MMS and Fully Loaded), the two VA teams (Foot Snipers and Pounders) and the two lower tiered Jax teams (Legit and Booty). And then slid Cobra and V into one pool or the other.

And like someone said, they could've separated JKID and Meatballs and pulled the rest from a hat and it would've been even and fair. these pools are fine!

I have a feeling some of you guys already had your complaints ready to post no matter what the pools looked like.

Those aren't the pools. It looks like they started to do a true snake, but switched mms and flying v so one pool wouldn't have three ultra teams. I agree with this because the talent levels are comporable so I would be more worried about regional protection. I've never played flying v, so I'd rather play them than mms. Plus I need to schmooze Brick for some Braves tickets.

i think the standings were based on a combination of circuit standings, captain votes, and drawing names out of hats.

as has been said, split up the obvious top two, split up the obvious bottom two, split up the two va teams, and the other four end up wherever. looks pretty even to me!

where's my air horn.... LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!

I like these pools, screw rankings. If eight teams make it in you really have to crap the bed to not make elimination, and we are playing teams we haven't played before along with a team that has their excuse for losing the last game (subway) and we have our excuse for losing the first one (tiger karma).

Sounds like a fun friggin day.

Proxy Server?
My old job blocked a lot of sites, but I was able to get on our "social" proxy server and pretty much surf at will. Ask around and find somebody in the know.

I like the pools also. Really looks like the only way to do it really. Is JKO always this lightly attended?

Most companies now have a "social" presence due to facebook, so most likely there will be a proxy server set up to allow them access with less restrictions. Willing to bet one of those two computers are on it.

yes, this is the very first ever jacksonville tournament. first year tournaments tend to be lightly attended. the first sfko had 8 teams, for example.

I'm not sure if it could have been more even but pool A looks harder to me. With such a small attendance and the fact that you're not getting any real scrub teams it was going to be a tough draw regardless of how it came out. It's certainly not the worst pool play draw I've had in a tourney.

Guess I just figured it'd be better attended due to location.

I don't know about that. Legit is going to have some good players but until they get solid girls who can catch in the outfield they are going to struggle when teams kick away on them.

I haven't seen JKID play since they merged, and I've never played the V... can't wait for these pool play games!

I'll see if I can set my phone on a stand somewhere to get the V vs JKID game and the V vs FL game... I'd be interested to watch those even after the tourney is over.

Wow... is my memory getting that bad?

I stand corrected.

Though, I've never played THIS version of the V. ;)

Also, think it's fair to say you guys were held together by bandaids at that point in the weekend. It certainly wasn't the team I expected to see, based on watching you guys play in previous tournies. As I recall, quite a few of you guys were hurt/crippled from the day before.

I'll be there early so I hope to find a spot for my phone to take video of your 9:00 game vs Fully Loaded.
