The Association's prime time NYC division kicks off again this Thursday ... a month later to avoid the militant little league parents. Three longtime squads headline the league ... with a whole bunch of new blood.
Let's take a look at the opening week matchups and spreads ... any teams upset with my pick are free to wager a pitcher of beer prior to kickoff ... or a pitcher that their 4 picks can beat mine ... a good bet considering how little we know about 5/8 of the teams.
Over/under and money lines for the hell of it too. Also, paging Manimal for his contributions ...

Jorts Illustrated (-3.5) v. Hot Dog Buffet O/U 8.5 Jorts -150 HDB +220
Only HDB had one lone free agent at the Pre-Season Party. We'll also find out if Jorts Illustrated has anything to do with the sports magazine ... or the hipster's number 1 warm-weather vetement. Going with a blind guess on this one.
Barney & Friends v. The Devil's Rejects (-6.5) O/U 9.5 B&F +250 TDR -170
The new purple was out in force to support WAKA rep Brian's swell PSP at the Exchange, with attendance in the double digits. Normally, that'd be a persuasive factor in opening-week league lines, but they are up against one of the strongest franchises in Freedom to start off the season. TDR will be rusty, but they'll likely still get the win.

sry for partying ... v. Our Balls, Your Face (+5.5) O/U 8.5 S4P -160 OBYF +210
Two of the standard bearers start off the Freedom '12 campaign with the game of the week. Both will carry very swollen opening day rosters. S4P will have a little bit of tourney ball under their belts, but OBYF has a nasty habit of making the Fat Rabbits look more anemic than they should be. Will break with tradition here and pick a line and will give OBYF more than a fighting chance to beat it.
Team Haddad v. AU Footballers (-4.5) O/U 11.5 TH +190 AU -130
Don't know a thing about these 2 teams. Actually, I do. AU picked up 2 very seasoned free agents, both of whom have played for years and hit up a few tourneys. That alone might be the difference. Also, if AUF really is made up of War Eagles, they can't be that unathletic, right?
