Hey all,

Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made the trip to Jacksonville for the first ever JKO. I was anxious as hell to get to the tournament, as the nerves of trying to make sure 200 people were satisfied were starting to get to me by Friday evening.

A couple of things of note:

-Some of the refs were sub-par, for different reasons. Had a couple clueless refs (surprising, honestly, as they are experienced kickballers and WAKA refs.. Keith said it best in another thread that the competitive level has outgrown the "casual" ref)and a ref who just did not understand some of the differences between kickball and softball. I will spend more time getting these guys ready next year. That being said, i had 3 refs bail on me Friday night and one no-show Saturday morning, all of whom would have been the top refs there. So luckily we recovered. JC was almost called upon.

- More teams! The difficulty level of this tournament was incredible. Hopefully this is one of the things that stands out in a positive way for those who attended, and those who are thinking about it next year.

- Sunday funday... to those who attended Sunday funday, I owe an apology due to the price gauging by the tiki bar. $9 for a tiny daiquiri or $22 for bottomless mimosas where the cups were the size of a shot. That will be taken care of.

Once again, thanks to everyone who came out!!!

You did a great job for a first year tourney Jimmy. The bar was great, fields were great, (with the exception of the craters we dug on the pitchers mound on the foot ball field), and we had pretty good reffing. George Vancortes dad was a fantastic ref, lock him up for next year for sure. Great finals game!
...it's not I like was getting drunk in Vegas when you were still in elementary school.

I had an awesome time, despite not getting one of the cupcakes... and it's even more shitty that they didn't save you one!

I know there were only 10 teams, but I really enjoyed knowing every game was going to be a battle. I also loved getting to play other teams then the norm. Almost every pool we ever get put in includes Meatballs, Fully Loaded and Flying V.... was really nice to play MMS and Cobra Kai. Great teams and great competitors.

I hope the Harrisburg tourney is as awesome as this one was!

i'd like to thank jimmy for letting me help with this event. it felt good to be back out at the field after missing the first 4 events of the year. i'm glad i was able to contribute in whatever way to making it run as smoothly as possible. we've already started making notes for next year's event and i can't wait to see what 2013 brings.

thanks to all the teams that came out. without you, there is no tournament. the level of skill across the board at this event was just awe inspiring. it was some really great kickball to watch.

immeasurable thank you also to lost_sage and jpwilks for being there for us on game day in a tight situation. knowing we've got support staff, even when they aren't physically present, is such a huge relief. i hate harassing you when you're not supposed to be working, but i'm thankful that you were there for us when we needed you.

also, big up to ma' nature for holding that rain at bay all saturday! it was sketchy there for a bit, and i wasn't sure we'd make it through without a repeat of abq, but we managed to come out with nothing more than a couple rain drops in the morning.

thanks to all the southeast crew for being so welcoming and i can't wait to see the northeast crew next month in harrisburg!

shout out to those that watched online. you kept me entertained in the lulls. crAsh, do you remember what it was that b and i were talking about? i honestly have no idea. hope we weren't saying anything bad... next time maybe we'll move the camera a little further away from me.

finally, for those that missed out on the pool of cake, the cupcakes were amazing! lol ask the guys on the live stream how much i enjoyed them.

I was :pray:ing for rain in ABQ. Playing kickball at a high (or medium, as ABQ lies west of the Mississippi) level for money in the rain is some of the most fun you can have on the field. I'll accept rain at every tournament I ever play in.
