Hey all,
Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made the trip to Jacksonville for the first ever JKO. I was anxious as hell to get to the tournament, as the nerves of trying to make sure 200 people were satisfied were starting to get to me by Friday evening.
A couple of things of note:
-Some of the refs were sub-par, for different reasons. Had a couple clueless refs (surprising, honestly, as they are experienced kickballers and WAKA refs.. Keith said it best in another thread that the competitive level has outgrown the "casual" ref)and a ref who just did not understand some of the differences between kickball and softball. I will spend more time getting these guys ready next year. That being said, i had 3 refs bail on me Friday night and one no-show Saturday morning, all of whom would have been the top refs there. So luckily we recovered. JC was almost called upon.
- More teams! The difficulty level of this tournament was incredible. Hopefully this is one of the things that stands out in a positive way for those who attended, and those who are thinking about it next year.
- Sunday funday... to those who attended Sunday funday, I owe an apology due to the price gauging by the tiki bar. $9 for a tiny daiquiri or $22 for bottomless mimosas where the cups were the size of a shot. That will be taken care of.
Once again, thanks to everyone who came out!!!

ing for rain in ABQ. Playing kickball at a high (or medium, as ABQ lies west of the Mississippi) level for money in the rain is some of the most fun you can have on the field. I'll accept rain at every tournament I ever play in.
