Spring '12 Playoffs

Austin, TX

Postby Captain_Relax » May 24th, 2012, 6:59 pm

It was a new thing WAKA is doing in different divisions, this season was our "enhanced" season. The difference is that up to four teams from the season are eligible for Vegas Bids. Playoffs were last Saturday and went very well, good clean games all the way around.

#1 Relax and Let It Happen - 3-0 w/ 11 RS 0 RA
#2 Tyrannical Teabaggers - 2-1 w/ 8 RS 4 RA
#3 Candy Van - 3-1 w/ 15 RS 6 RA
#4 Walk of Shame - 3-2 w/ 18 RS 10 RA

Are the 4 teams being considered for FC due to WAKA wanting 64 teams again? Last year there was less interest partly due to CC as they didn't fill all 64 spots. This year I imagine even less interest and/or lower overall competition.

Anyways, how do you think the extra 2 teams in your league would do at an event like FC?

Not sure on the reason, probably to allow for competitive divisions to be able to stay together and give out multiple bids.

As for the 3/4, they would hold their own at FC. I'd say both teams if put in the right pool could go 3-1, and neither would do worse than 2-2. Both teams have talent, just no depth. They could probably both win a rd of 32 match up but I'd have to be a perfect scenario for them to go further than that.

All teams should be considered for FC because they can never fill all the spots. They like to act all high and mighty, but then there are empty spots when it gets down to it.

Their bs 2012 requirements force me to get ALL of my players together for one season to run rule everyone and probably make half the league quit just so we can have our roster for FC. If they had kept the 2011 requirements (which we thought they would up until March 10th or whenever they announced the new ones) then my players who want to go captain or play for other teams could do so, and the ones who wanted to take a season off wouldn't have to pay $70 just to be on a qualifying roster.

WAKA pisses me off regularly.

It's something they started doing last year with the "Varsity" leagues that they did in a couple of cities. This season Fire is one of them (something new this season). This way a team from Fire besides Whiskey and SttB can get a bid.

Capt Relax - do you know how the WAKA Thunder league out of Dallas compares to others in Texas?

I recently found out I have a friend from college whose team just completed back to back championships in that league, and they plan to go to FC from what I understand. Their name is "I'd hit it", but I don't think it's the same team from LSKO this year.

True as they play in the EPK - El Paso Kickball league and not WAKA.

Sorry to just be getting back to you, but to answer your question I have no idea. The rep that controls all of texas says there are a couple decent teams in Dallas but that name doesn't ring a bell. Dallas has a decent kickball scene with a lot of teams but nobody great.
