Playoffs......

Random.....and probably too soon to work out with fields this season....

but if we continue to have 16 teams we should do a double elimination tournament to have a true 3rd and 4th place team as well.

That's a negative on the double-elimination tournament.

I have no qualms with letting the two semi-finals teams that lose battle it out to determine 3rd and 4th place though.

I like the 3/4 game, if it happens at a separate time from the 'ship. I don't know about you guys, but if I lose in the semifinal, I want to watch the final.

We could always have the 3rd/4th place game first.

then roll right into finals right after that. (or vice versa) That does make for an extra round....but we have more than enough daylight, and still plenty of time to get to the post season party.

If people will complain about making that too long of a day then my advice to them would be to make sure to bring a canopy, lawnchair, and plenty of water.... that's just my two cents.

What's the plan due to last week's moist-out? Do those games move to playoff Thursday, and all of playoffs will be on Saturday? Or is Blackout losing one of its two chances to prove itself?

Do we have a more solidified plan for playoffs yet? Season is wrapping up and wondering what the plan is. Are we planning on having games on Thursday the 7th and then wrapping it up on Saturday the 9th, or just all the games on the 9th?

That will all depend on if we have another rainout.

Either way, there will be games on the 7th and the 9th. We just don't know if the 7th will be the first round of the playoffs or the final games of the regular season.

I think it's Record, Head-to-head, runs against. Past that, I'm not sure. I'd tell you to go to the standings page where it's listed, but you're at work and we can't see google docs.

Are we thinking about there being a break between the semis and the finals? Having the 3/4 game be between those two? Etc.?

If we start at 1, the earliest we're done is 4pm, with the EOS party starting at 6. That doesn't give Brocery Bags enough time to go home, shower, and change into their Cha Cha's clothes...

I would propose round of 8 at 12, semis at 1, 3/4 game at 2, finals at 3... and if we have the whole playoffs in one day, then the round of 16 would be at 10 and 11. Of course, I don't think I have a say. Just figured the forum is a good place to throw my thoughts.

I'll ref home plate at every game time that I'm not involved in. Side note... if we have 8 teams playing at the same time to start Saturday, how are we going to get 8 refs?

Are teams re-seeded each round.. I know round 1 is 1v16, 2v15 etc..

So if we say teams 1-8 win rd 1... does it go to 1v8 2v7 etc.. or is it like NCAA March Madness and the seeds are written down and just fall where they fall

I'm pretty sure round 1 is this Thursday, refer to email sent out last week.

For refs, sounds like you are going to have to bribe a few people who loose on the first round to come ref throughout the day on Saturday. My suggestion would be with adult beverages.

Your question makes no sense. Both of your scenarios would result in the exact same round 2 matchups... that's why the NCAA tournament is how it is.

To answer it more correctly, no. The teams are not re-seeded each round. If 13 were to upset 4 in the first round, but teams seeded 1-3 and 5-8 all won their games, 1 would not play 13. 5 would, like in the NCAA tournament.

If there were to be a 3 vs. 4 consolation game, I would have go to with DMB over OF. They have 10 more runs for, 7 less runs against, and have had a tougher schedule.
