PAKC Top Plays/Players

Postby Hollywood B » June 11th, 2012, 11:28 am

Figured I'd get this thread started. Some top plays/players that I saw during the day:

-The play everyone was talking about: Ricky front flipping into home to win the game against Deja Vu in COT.

-Shockwave charger and catcher were solid all day. Charger has a little different approach, but its very effective. Their catcher/leadoff is the fastest man in Circuit. I think its borderline impossible to get him out on a bunt unless he pops up.

-Middle of Deja Vu's lineup consisted of a bunch of good kickers who found open spots. Not what I was expecting from previous scouting reports.

-BSB's charger had a perfect kick out on a perfect bunt from out leadoff to open the game. I think JHard was still safe, but it was close enough and such a good play, I think the ump had to give it to the defense.

-Joe from OSC - always great bunts, plays great D.

-NYSH - Everyone contributed throughout the day in a total team effort. Our pitchers had a great rotation going and all shined in different times throughout the day. Ricky played great. Oakley needs a mention as a standout. He played great all day on both sides of the ball and ended up having to play nearly every inning of the day due to my injury and a gameday injury to Chad.

These guys are the team of the future. Well run, committed, serious. They play hard and have fun all day. They are getting the hang of winning Circuit kickball games and are bringing young talent onto the scene.

Also, when their charger went up like 12 feet to snatch that liner out of the air against us, I almost fell over.

Shockwave's catcher didnt have to make many throws. He literally was able to pick up the ball and run it to first for almost every game they played.

Have to agree with B on this one, Shockwave catcher is without a doubt the fastest man in the circuit. If he puts the ball on the ground you cannot get him out. Also their charger made a catch that leads me to believe he can grab a quarter off the top of the backboard. That guy has a ridiculous vertical.

he made that same play on us as well. anyone else and we would have had a run in and a man on. instead he shut us down with the air jordan leap.

Welcome to the boards at long last!

I think he meant to say the Catcher's name is Trimane, and the Charger's name is Carlos.

Looking forward to ATL man!

Was Shockwave yelling "Duck Butter!" every play like they were at SFKO? I was spouting that phrase all the way back to ATL after that trip.

The play of the day was definitely in the ShowerHammer/DeJaVu playoff game when the ShowerHammer guy did a flip at home. It seemed at first he was going to easily score the winning run, but the DeJaVu fielder whipped the ball to home from the outfield and barely missed the runner. Not sure if the runner was flipping to dodge the ball or to show off. After the flip he lands on his ass next to the plate...the crowd on the the DeJaVu side all rise to their feet (fairly large crowd watching the game)to see the final moments as the runner barely slips his hand on home base before the catcher hits him with the ball in the face.
Everything goes quiet for a couple of seconds. Ref calls safe...then the team and crowd goes crazy complaining about the call. For a second it seemed like a small riot was going to break out, but cooler heads prevailed and a video replay helped to calm the storm.
On a side note, Adrock and company tried to steal the show in the final game with some outrageous acts behind the camera...
Whatever, lets go!

In response to several things mentioned.

Trimane - Has beautiful eyes. I'm saying that in the least gay way possible. THEY ARE!!!

Oakley made a comment (that I MIGHT have on video) when Shockwave's charger leapt 40 feet to catch a ball.
"He's not playing kickball, he's playing NBA Jams. DANG!"
I think I then feel to ground laughing.

Ricky- Freak of Nature. PLEASE stay tuned. I HAVE video of the event/incident. It was an AMAZING call by the referee. You'll shart yourself when you see it.

Ad-Rock and Brick's Playgirl spread should be out next month. I ALSO have some footage from that (albeit far away). WOW!

One of our chargers Mike Jolin was on fire for BM all day and made a freakish catch at one point which I will also post.

Be ready for a post for videos from me in the very near future.

NYSH charger was very impressive. He made tough throws under pressure without setting his foot and was on the mark for majority of them. The play at home against DJV was ridiculously insane.

That play was insane and I definitely was not trying to show off. I was shocked that there was even a play at the plate and when the ball got thrown in from the outfield jumping it was my only option. I would have much rather just run home safely without getting pegged in the face. Crazy game and hats off to Vu for a tough quarter final.

The plays that DJV made here are pretty remarkable too. The snap to first and then across to third on my bunt and that relay to the plate. That's top notch defensive kickball and in COT no less. Never even having heard of COT.

Just wanted to pile on the praise of the speed Shockwave has. They have at least 4 guys at the top of their lineup who were faster than everyone else there.

The NYSH charger was very... efficient, I guess. He made almost every play look so easy that it was like he wasn't trying that hard. That entire team was just churning like a well oiled machine.

Phil might have been too busy editing video of that awesome walk-off front flip to remember he had not one but two HRs in our (Massacre) final game. A nice high point from an otherwise disappointing weekend for Boston.

I think DJV can sleep a little better after watching the replay. Live (w/o replay), both plays/calls seemed to not go in their favor which added to the emotions.

In person, Ricky looked to be out by a long shot but no one besides the ref was focusing on where the foot of Dierdre was on firstbase. Great game to watch.

Sidenote: NYSH went thru 3 DC/MD in single elims. They should be the number 1 overall seed in DC.

I thought the coolest part of this tourney was that we played 5 teams that we never played before.

Top players we played were Kyle the pitcher from Lights Out and Catcher for Lights Out. They were money on both sides of the ball.

I also think The Pounders played the game of their life against us. Those guys catch so much flack and they didn't do a thing wrong in our game and handed us an ass kicking.

Top players we played were Kyle the pitcher from Lights Out and Catcher for Lights Out. They were money on both sides of the ball.

I also think The Pounders played the game of their life against us. Those guys catch so much flack and they didn't do a thing wrong in our game and handed us an ass kicking.

Thanks. I think it's pretty safe to say we didn't get you guys on your A game though.
