What's up, party kids? It has been a few months since I've been on the boards and I'm just checking in. I miss anything awesome and crucial (and don't say Ricky's flip--no one missed that).

Hope to see the majority of you in DC...the first tournament I'll actually ref this season

dan and christi nichols are having a baby today. trey and rebecca had a baby not long ago. mccoy had foot surgery and finally came out to play in atlanta, but it seems like he's not quite healed. apparently the fields in GA are rough. kickball in charlotte and las vegas sucks. bunt home runs earn you a handjob (you're a ref, you need to know this rule. it's important). solo triple plays get you (laid? blowjob? i forget). zamboni got married and changed her name and none of us could figure out who she was anymore.

festa still doesn't use facebook. dice. is still a facebook whore. people still insist nobody uses google+ even though that's not actually true.

brick and ad-rock did a naked photoshoot in harrisburg wearing nothing but cleats and a circuit ball.

the leprechaun may or may not have blown out his leg again in jax, but he doesn't seem to want to admit it. fro destroyed his knee in the first game of the day in harrisburg.

a portland team is going to be in san diego. we're trying to get them and more to come out to san fran and/or phoenix as well. looks like superdudes, who made their circuit debut at the circuit cup last year, will be hitting at least one tournament this year before the circuit cup.

i'm the best bunter on Kick Ass but dan reyes throws bouncies that screw up our whole team. we finished the season in 1st place with a record of 8-1-1. the only undefeated team in the division finished in 3rd because of a forfeit. HA!

4 teams are playing sunday out at the sportsplex, and we've heard mixed reviews. apparently it's great fun, but the fields are weird (long turf). waar still sucks. everybody has left waka except peninsula and atlantic divisions. there's nowhere for the competitive teams in vb to play, so they're all not-so-secretly infiltrating klohr, waar, and paac to beat up on the social teams.

phil's camerawork is becoming famous. tweasy is still a workout fiend. admin is running marathons every month and making us all look like newbs. smashley is a badass. ricky flies. jared retired and LiU was arguably better for the loss. flying v and fully loaded both got tournament wins after cutting tiger.

stephan j slamson hasn't done any "getting to know" interviews lately and we're all sad about it. festa has been working with a panel of experts to do pre- and post- tournament polls all season, which has drummed up a lot of tournament discussion.

some random no-name team out of vb got a fluke win over the best team in kickball and they may have either gotten too much credit for the win, or not enough, depending on who you ask.

the pool of cupcakes had some flipping amazing frosting.

we need to do something about the live feed. it's blurry and sketchy.

also:

teh slammer & his gf are engaged (huzzah!).

trey tamed down a bit until his team apparently didn't get enough respect for what they did last year. now he's all hot and fired up again.

there may or may not have been a few too many personal attacks slung around between jusdice, tiger, trey, and a few others. they were warned.

tiger and trey insist any tourney west of some arbitrary "east coast" delineation is a "jv" tourney and shouldn't count for as many "quality" points. i think that's a load of horse isht.

apparently nysh vs deja vu somehow became a racist thing according to the people that don't play kickball. all the rest of us thought that was about the most ludicrous thing we'd ever heard.

bryan played most of the atl tournament in a speedo because i wasn't there to stop him.

zak stepped down as a mod because he now works for waka.

there's a girl in atl that HAAAAAATES brick. with the fiery hot passion of a thousand suns. everyone thought she was with panik, but was apparently from another atl team. she apologized later for her heckling and poor manners.

you can still hear erika glaubke on camera.

jc kicks bombs. don't forget it.

vbko will be a 1-bounce tourney. some teams are totally stoked. hw might come out of retirement. flying v thinks it's a terrible idea and doesn't want to go. krabbas thinks it's a terrible idea too, but is still taking a team because, well it'd be silly to skip the tournament in your back yard.

both panik and situation now have players named "scott" and there was some major confusion over that point.

the new panik jerseys got mixed reactions. pounders and situation look very similar on a blurry camera feed.

Good to have you back jcast. And the bunt homerun circus will now be relocating full time to Las Vegas since btaylor is moving here next month.... (ps. and the Vegas talent level is steadily improving with many top players now spreading out amongst various teams. Charlotte still blows)

i threatened to punch tiger in the dick for being a dbag, then i apologized because it was not a nice thing for me to say (even if he really is a dbag and absolutely deserves to get punched in the dick). his gf said i should go ahead and do it anyway, and she'd point and laugh.

tom green(e?) came out to the meet & greet in jax dressed as an ape version of captain jack sparrow, and the after party dressed as super mario. he now wants to hire me to make him more costumes because he saw a picture of bryan playing kickball dressed as sabretooth. i also finally met horses and whateverheistoday.

i got new cleats and i'm marginally less slow now.

btaylor moved from florida to charlotte, discovered it sucks and he doesn't have the job he thought he was moving there for, is moving to vegas to hang out with mcnugget, and can't wait to move back to florida.

meatball kevin has dumps. or takes dumps. the over/under in jax was 2.5. he was over, and wants to make sure people on the live stream knows that, even though he didn't realize until 3 events later that we actually have a live stream at every event.

teams other than panik attack and meatballs have won tournaments, but only when panik attack and meatballs weren't there (except jax and atl), and members of panik attack and meatballs want me to make sure i put the emphasis on the fact that other teams won only because panik attack and meatballs weren't there. or they were having a bad day. or they were working with new players. or they had a lot of injuries. or the wind was blowing the wrong way on their field. whatever the reason was, it had absolutely nothing to do with panik attack or meatballs being any less awesome or "ahead of the rest of the pack" than they were last year.

we started a thread on kickball myths and it was hysterical (to me).

weddings, injuries, and babies are still ruining kickball.

rick darm and his wife also had a baby boy earlier this year, and was finally cleared to ref a tourney in harrisburg. collectively we all heaved a sigh of relief to see the kilted ref behind home plate again.

did you hear ricky flies? it was kindof a thing. ;)

dematas is not retired and plans on hitting at least 11 tournaments this year. also, marlene is a saint.

my sis attended her first kickball event and thought it was awesome. she'll be in virginia beach.

a team from colorado that's not named dice. took on two or three randoms and won a tournament. everyone gave the credit to dice. anyway. that team is now attending another tournament, and people finally know the name catalina wine mixers.

festa writes an awesome gmot, even if he is biased.

there is video evidence that i actually do play kickball. i don't just stand around on the sidelines cheering and keeping score.

there was something else i was going to say and i totally don't remember right now...

oh, right. crossfit.

there's a discussion going as to whether "adult kickball" is an appropriate title, or if we should just call it "kickball" and let people figure it out for themselves.

there's also a discussion going as to whether MLS players would be any good at kickball, or if an all-star kickball squad could take on an MLS team in a one-day charity event.

there was an argument about whether RA or RD should be part of the standings sort order, and which is more accurate to what we're trying to do with the circuit.

tropics still hate us. also, apparently they aren't very good at mailing stuff that has been purchased. either that or the mail service sucks between colorado and tennessee.

stl doesn't like us and won't have anything to do with us, because we don't give out $5 medals to every player at circuit tournaments, so there's a motion on the table to have a tournament in kc next year instead. all in favor say "aye".

circuit leagues were started in harrisburg and atlanta this year. the result was much better reffing at those tournaments.

east coast players are pissed that circuit cup is on a sunday again this year, but the west coast players don't seem to have a problem with it. new orleans has no idea what's about to hit them.

zak won the hype cup for walking around pantsless and looking generally homeless, then promptly lost the hype cup at the first opportunity because he got drunk and left it in the bar (it was picked up by teammates and safely returned later).

bundy started a kickball division in djabouti, africa, where it's hotter than the center of the earth, and they play kickball with what might be a volleyball.

One bounce is a bad idea to everyone except for people who play the pitcher position. Trust me. There is no one who is coming away from a Circuit tournament saying, "You know, that was ok. I just wish the pitching was more difficult. Way too easy to kick!" Pointless rule change with very little demand. But, whatever...

Zupke, Big J and I attempted to capture an armed robber at 4am in Jax while completely shithoused. Best/worst idea ever. Big J also peed in a trashcan in the middle of a group of people and I was the only one who noticed. I also almost got my arm bit off by the police dog because I'm a hand talker.

Not sure what you are referring to about PA here April? Pretty sure nobody from PA said anything about losing a tournament besides Trey. You are a message board vet, you should know better about Trey. You perpetuating the PA hate is just as bad as some of Trey's outlandish statements. There may be 3 people from PA that come on the message board and post.

There's still time to talk to the folks running the tournament. Hopefully the majority will get the tournament they want in VB. Can we put it to a vote?

They don't seem to care too much about what other than a few people want. Whatever it takes to get HeyWhoah! to reform for one tourney I guess. Also, pretty sure April wasn't actually hating on PA...just summarizing the last few months of general chatter on here.

April also thought I retired. Sometimes she just needs her coffee to get going. :)

We vote for 2 bounce. I'll guarantee a team for 2 bouncies, but will take our talents to Boston otherwise.

Why are so many teams scared of 1 bounce? I would love to see what teams truly have an elite offense, and what teams count on two bounce to get on base by bunting and kicking. One bounce truly separates elite offensive players.

Most teams count on 2 bounce because that's all they know. They would be like fish out of water if they played 1 bounce.

2-1 games are boring to play in unless you're the pitcher.

They're incredibly boring to watch too. Who cares who the elite players are, we already know about them.

Has there ever been a one bounce, three foul event? Should make for a ton of foul outs.

That said, it's cool that they're doing it for one event, adds a variable.

I say 2-1 because it seems like that's the final of a lot of one bounce games

You realize you contradict yourself here, right? Elite players don't foul out. I guarantee a lot of leadoff guys who are nearly impossible to get out with 2-bounce foul out almost every time in 1-bounce. If you don't have legit foot skills, you won't shine in 1-bounce. 2-bounce makes a lot of people think they have legit foot skills, though.

That's quite a guarantee. I guarantee you will be proven wrong, and no lead off guy will even foul out half the time.

I don't see a contradiction. The elite offensive players are elite in the rules we generally play with. who cares if they're good at one bounce or not?

That right there sounds like one bounce games would kinda suck. I'd be willing to give it a go, but if you think the best OBP guys are going to foul out almost every time, it seems like the rest of the team would fall in the same category. Seems more like a flukey style of play than a substantial one.

Any old video of one bounce competitive games?

Leadoff guys like Tyler, with a strong soccer background, are the same in 1-bounce. Guys who count on beating out bad bunts with their incredible speed will get out substantially more. It's also not a given that mediocre kickers will be able to kick runners in.

Well if the decent two bounce lead off guys foul out "almost every time" the average guys will foul out every time. Most pitchers will throw no hitters. sounds fun.

I'm sure there will be footage from VBKO. I'm definitely curious. Never played it, so my opinion on the matter is moot.

What about if it is a 2-1 or 1-0 game in 2 bounce ?

I remember last years DC finals being 1-0 and one of the more exciting and intense games I have seen in quite some time.
