Hey all you kickball peeps in the District of Columbia!!!

I will be heading down to DCKO this year with my girlfriend Sarah, a week ahead of time to get in some vacation time together.

I'm here to ask you what you'd recommend in terms of eating/museums/music whatever.

We are:
Vegan (love Asian and Ethiopian food etc etc)
Into varieties of music
Interested in seeing some of the awesome museums (she's been to some I've never been)

and looking to see which weekday D.C. kickball league we should go visit.

Thanks in advance,
Look forward to seeing everyone in D.C.

Mama Ayesha's.

Zaytinya (for fancier dinner)

Smoke N Barrel has Vegan BBQ. no shit.

Indique (indian)

Cheap Eats:
Amsterdam Falafel

Julia's Empanadas

Radius Pizza

Founding Farmers

You can view the entire list here.

For Kickball check out DC Freedom on the mall, or DC Liberty or DCKickball Thursday (where you'll see some of Rockstar) up in Adams Morgan. All three has enough shenanigans for your thursday.

For music, check out The Black Cat. Great indie venue! And the Vegas Lounge has a sweet soul band playing occasionally.

As for museums, Air & Space, American History, & the Native American are the best. (and free) There's also Crime & Punishment & Spy Museum (though they are not free)

WWII, Washington & Lincoln Monuments are close to each other. (and kickball play near them) You can also see Teddy, MLK Jr, and the Vietnam and Korea War memorials. which are cool.

If you have a car, go see Thom Jefferson.

Best local dive bars are The Blaguard, Kelly's Irish Times, Chief Ike's, & the Red Derby.

Shoot me an email when you'll be in town, i'll be able to give you more in depth. Plus i play ball thursday so you're more than welcome to come out with us.

Oh crap. Circuit league AND DCKickball with Pittsburgher.
Choices choices.

This is good stuff. Thanks for all the info. Anyone else got some secret D.C. intelligence (that has absolutely nothing to do with actual politics - blech)

Actually, I've now decided that I'm going to start pronouncing it "yorp-ness".

Funny story.

A girl on my team here in Boston (WAKA) seriously thought it was Yorp-Ness like the "Yourpness Monster".
We almost named the team that the next season.

My teammate Big signed us up for 7X7 soccer and the team name is Yourpness Monsters. I am SO excited!!!

Hey C equals Horses with Big Stubs!!!
I have possibly the toughest assignment for you (if you choose to accept it).

Can you help make me a logo for "Your P-Ness Productions" that DOESN'T include a penis?
Well, there could most definitely be a subliminal one but not like Whiskey Richards.

I'll see what I can do, but my logos typically are not of high quality.

If you don't mind spending $20/person the Newseum is one of my favorites. The national portrait gallery is also pretty great, and is right by the spy museum if you end up going there.

I definitely recommend visiting the Washington monument, WWII memorial and Lincoln memorial at dusk. Mainly because it looks amazing at that time, but also because there are not nearly as many tourists & it's not as hot. pDunc also suggests you go to the zoo to see the monkeys!

Another cool music option is Jazz in the sculpture garden, which happens every Friday night.

As far as vegan options, I highly recommend sticky fingers! It's an awesome bakery in Columbia heights. All of Holland's options are pretty great as well. Selam is a really good option for Ethiopian food.
