Yeah, should be interesting, can't wait to see how this is going to work for everyone.

We should schedule some sort of Founder's Cup Selection Party like they do for March Madness.

I wonder if there will be any teams that put a deposit and then not be able to make the tourney. I like to call that, "The Jellydog"

I wonder if there will be a sure fire team that doesn't get selected (i.e., LIU, Ramrod, WTK, Meatballs, etc). I predict a lot of salt on 8/17

I'm thinking SoFla will be safe from any snubbing for the top teams considering: Riff Raff and Balls Deeper have auto-invites, Meatballs and Fully Loaded finished their championships with 0 RA, and JKI won Beach with 2 RA. Other teams of note in FL: Super Skinnies won their tourny with 3 RA, and Cobra Kai apparently lost their tourny.

Yeah, I don't know about them doing that. Tourney winners first I believe and see what is left after that. Wonder how many teams that prob have no chance of winning will pay the $750, see if that factors in.

What will then? My guess is tourney winners, depending on how many there are. If there are 64 or more, then they will take the RA and RS to determine.

How many WAKA leagues are there? A lot more than 64, each one has a winner.

I believe location will be more of a factor then runs for or against. WAKA left the "qualifying/selection" requirements very vague.

They want to spread the kickball word around. So invite all over the country. What better way to advertise then invite a team to Vegas. They have a blast (even if they get monkey stomped - besides they find out about the fun tourney) and go back home and tell everyone and more teams join to try and go.

Why invite more teams from an area that is already WAKA dominate.

I think their first priority will be to select who they believe are the best teams, representative from across the country. They want the best, but they also want to make sure they have a good mix of teams from all over, not just FL, DC, and NY. That could potentially suck for some east coast teams, but WAKA is a business, and that would help drum up business in their emerging markets.

I also think a team's desire to go to Vegas will play into it. They want to invite teams who will accept. It won't help their marketing campaign to portray FC as being the "in-demand" national kickball championship if they have to keep sending out invites, and get rejected by teams who can't/don't want to go.

RA/RS will probably only be a factor for "bubble" teams or in where invited teams will be seeded.

I didn't go last year, but I thought I remember a whole lot of CA teams being there in 2008.

OSC has 6RA from our tourney so I guess were not a lock ;)

According to MeatballKevin we're a "no talent weak ass team" so it prob doesn't matter if we're in Vegas or not.

Last year was the free for all on the computer. This way, they can prevent of flooding FC with one region.

Why invite more teams from an area that is already WAKA dominate.

I feel like that happened in 2008, a bunch of CA teams who won their division or whatever and figured, hey, let's go to Vegas, we are really good. And then after they realized they weren't that good on the competitive kickball scale. So then after all the complaining and whatever, waka decided to do the fun tourney, which I think is a great idea. The competitive teams do not want to play the social teams and vice versa.
My retirement spokesman, sduncan will be handling all questions related to this topic.

Other teams of note in FL: Super Skinnies won their tourny with 3 RA, and Cobra Kai apparently lost their tourny.

Cobra Kai was Orlando right? I believe they lost to Your Mom's a Pervert

Dont be so sure kids. There's lot of divisions who play for fun and don't worry about the Vegas bid. I wonder how many "MD Fire" divisions are out there. I know a few teams in DC who won their division, and had no intention of going to Vegas.

That's true. But if they have competitive playoff stats, they might still get first-round invites based on the "pick the new regions" mandate. And even if they don't want them and say no, the truly competitive teams who did want the first-round invites will be miffed and may not wait around for a second-, or third-, or fourth-round FC invite.

Heard from a rumor that WAKA staff is being told the invites will go out early next week and that they may not happen at the time listed on the website.
